Battery is 2 years old, tested with no problem. Even if I run car the day before, battery is dead the next day. No sound at all when I turn car on. It's almost as if it wears down from repeat turnons in cold weather. Last year had it charged for 2 hrs at gas station and that seemed to do the trick. Tried the same solution last week. My mechanic can't figure it out.

the Nissan blogs refer to this as parasitic battery draw and older Nissans seem to be cursed by it. I still have not foudn the cause of mine and have put a kill switch on my batteryto disconenct power if car sits more than a day. Some folks found the cause of theirs. The light in the trunk or the light in the glove box staying on. They said the draw was not enough to get the notice of a mechanic but enough to slowly pull power from a battery, particulary an older battery. I put a new battery, new wires, new connectors, new alternator and mine stil ldrans if sittign more than a day. Never foudn the cause. BATTERY LAMP REALLY MEANS ALTERNATOR JUST DIED.
when that dies, battery discharges fast even 1hour long the battery does dead and will not make spark or crank it now bat dead.
forget the AC, AC shuts off to save you form stalling in traffic,
it delays the stall in truth , see that lamp go to autoshop or home fast.(batt lamP)
it is a blessing and the AC shuts off too, for engine overheat.
and if engine stalls (a no brain'er that, sorry)
The alternator is bad or its huge huge fuse blew in the huge engine bay box , 50 to 100amps comon size.
battery voltage is 13.3v to 15vdc, below that the alternator is dead.
check all fuse is wise now
I bet brakes are not bad ABS etc. or traction controls etc.
as battery goes dead one module after another goes dead(offline)
and most times spark is last, just making it home in time to fix it.
my all time record , drove for 1 full hour ALT ***** on the fly
and made it 1 bock from home, and coast the rest;.
other times less, done at least 5times in 50 years OTR.
If the battery is old(2 to 2/12 years) the battery is sulfated and worn out inside. Going dead is just the nail in the coffin. Plus, a discharged battery will freeze in cold weather, allowing the ice inside to bend and break the lead plates inside, causing shorts to occur and will drain the battery after charging. If it were me, I would bring the battery somewhere warm for 8 hours, slow charge it, then have it tested. If it's more than 2 1/2 years old, I would just replace it.
Battery went dead? If this is the case you probably have a dead short.Should pull starter possibly bad solinoid, My old Maxima had caused me similar issue, if you pull starter it usually can be tested at a local Auto parts store. In a vehicle that fails to start, the common problems are the starter solenoid and the starter motor. The starter assembly can be quickly pulled from a 1995 Nissan Maxima, and then can be further separated to replace one part of the starter assembly.The process does not require any special tools, and can be done by novice mechanics
Have an auto electrician CHECK ur HARGiNG system!
Either ur battery got problem or the alternator!
Alternator should have 13 to 14 volts output while running!

Hello dpkommineni: My name is Roger and I will answer your question. The problem you described is that of a car not charging the battery. You need to have the charging system tested. The alternator should charge between 13.5 to 14.5 volts. Anything less then 12.5 the battery will go dead. Since the weather is hot any use of the head lamp and A/C the battery would die fairly fast. I would also have the battery tested. Should the battery have a open cell then it would not take a charge from the alternator.

have you checked the voltage at the battery terminals while the car is running,it should be about 13-15volts, 15volts absolute maximum and no lower than 13volts minimum. ideally voltage at battery should be 14.8 maximum when cold. when the car is at operating temperature it should be roughly 13.8volts at battery. try doing a simple load test ,turn on headlights with high beam on,turn on air con or heater,internal light, even hazards.if you have under 13.8 volts at battery give it a rev to about 2000 rpm and watch for increase in voltage at battery terminals using a multimeter. if voltage is lower then you must have voltage drop somewhere in your wiring,eg; wiring harness to all your sensors,relays etc. check all fuses,fusible links(usually braided looking wire about 100mm long) also check the back of the alternator with multimeter( positive point on alternator and negative on multimeter to a good earth on body or motor eg; a nut or bolt nearby.if you dont have a multimeter and or dont know how to use one, you can buy them pretty cheap from a spare parts joint with instructions for under $20:00,you can find tutorials on internet for free. hopefully this has been some help,by the way make sure you dont flatten ur battery too often,discharging a battery too much can kill it,cheers and good luck!
