I have no heat in my 2002 Ford Ranger XL 2.3L. I installed a new thermostat but it did not solve it. Now I don't know where to go. Its cold and I need heat. Does anyone know where to go from here?
Was the thermostat put in the right way?,did you bleed the system from air? does your car have a water heater valve(open full-medium-off)?,is the heater core always on "on for hot water flow" but controlled by a flapper door that allows hot air exit to cab by flap position for heat temperature control??. I'd start by bleeding the system by applying water to the radiator while highest cooling system hose is partially open to allow air bubbles to get out and reconnect hose as soon as only water (with no air bubbles) comes out. Then I'd try the rest if the least less complicated doesn't work. Careful for electric cooling fans: it goes on even with the engine off!!!
Yessir, Open the hood and find your heater hoses when hot grab both of them while engine is running, you should feel heat like REAL hot on one or both of them... If it is on just one you have a restriction in the heater core. If they are both hot my bet is an air bubble in the heater core. You can park it uphill and open the radiator cap SLOWLY with a towel this will burp air that has made it to your radiator. OR you can turn off the engine let it cool and pull off the UPPER hose....Hold it higher than your radiator and then have some help and fill the tube with water this will force air into the tube from your heater core.
The water pump or the heater core probably the water pump
