Up until 2002 the fuel pressure regulator was vac controlled and mounted in the fuel rail on the intake manifold.
After 2002 I think it is part of the fuel pressure sensor which still mounts on the rail.
You may have to check with the dealer to see which version your engine has.

SOURCE: Very little fuel preasure on Explorer

there are two fuel lines on left side of engine if you trace the lines to the rail one after the regulator is the return line disconnect it and place line in bottle turn on key and measure how much is being drained to bottle should be very little if thers none then its the pump problem .always check power and grounds be for you replace the chek the plug right before the pump on frame rail at left rear leaf spring have seen problems with that plug. if you do replace the pump allways grind clean ground by the pump. hope this helps.

Car only starts if you give it gas and has ruff idle 2001 grand-prix 3.1l

Start by having the computer scanned for codes the codes will telling if theres a problem and can help alot, the car may have a bad fuel preasure regulator where extra fuel is going to engine which makes it hard to start and rough idle, remove the vacuum hose from fuel preasure regulator and start engine if fuel comes out of the hose connection of regulator then replace it.if the regulator is good then go have codes pulled, hope this helps.

My 2003 Taurus with 93,000 miles occasionally stalls, cuts out when I'm just driving between 35-45 mph. I kick the gas pedal to restart the motor, all happening in 2-3 seconds. Mechanic put a computer...

low fuel pressure can be caused by fuel pump or pressure regulator. The regulator is on the upper side of the engine and looks like picture below. Check the vacuum hose all the way to see if it has a loose or broken connection. The regulator is much easier to replace that the pump, so I always recommend one replace the regulator before the pump. If you know someone that can check the fuel pressure before the regulator, you can actually determine which part is bad.

I think I'm vapor lock, what are the causes in this model? I get miss firing as a result of this and it only seems to happen when the car is hot. I've got new plug, wire and coil pack on the vehicle.

the first thing is to scan the computer to locate the cylinder thats misfiring, the next thing would be to have the fuel preasure tested, as it seems like you may be loosing fuel preasure, this can be caused due to a bad fuelpump a clooged fuel or a bad fuel preasure regulator, when you feel the car misfiring remove the vacuum hose to regulator and make sure theres no gas leaking from regulator where the vacuum hose goes, hope this helps, also i would try a fuel system motor vac this clean the injectors and removes carbon build up.good luck.

sounds like dirt in fuel buy a good fuel cleaner and put it through the fuel system should solve the problem after some miles.adrian,,,,,,,

Fuel preasure control fault code P1112 on a 2001 Ford Taurus LX. Idle goes up to 2,000 RPM. When the car is in drive the car goes to almost 4,000 RPM with out touching the pedel.

Have a fuel pressure test done on it to find the problem.
If the pressure is low, the fuel pump is weak
If it's high, the fuel pressure regulator is faulty.
