2002 jeep grand cherokee heater doesn't blow hot

The heater has began to blow cold. At 1st the passenger side was colder then the driver's. Now both sides are cold. It sounds like the blend doors are bad but thats not it.

I cut into the housing behind the glove box and inspected the blend doors, they are and work fine. I flushed the complete cooling system and everything flows freely even the heater core. Next I put in a new thermostat and thought that was the cure but not so. I don't know what else it could be. Any Ideas?

    ATTENTION EVERYONE WITH HEATER PROBLEMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have done everything, thermostat, checked blend doors, cooling system flush. The heater core is not bad and new thermostat installed. If you are having heater problems PLEASE TRY THIS BEFORE you do anything else!!!!!!!

Turn the ignition on and then turn on the heater/ac system. With the heater/ac systen still on turn the ignition off. Next open the fuse box located next to the battery and pull fuse # 15, it is 50 amp fuse. Wait approximately 5 minutes and then reinstall the fuse.

Turn the ignition on and wait 2 minutes. Now start the engine and let it warm up. This may fix your problem. This is some type of computer reset and it could save you hundreds of dollars. It worked for me. Thanks to Chris A.

If ythe heater core is not bad then I would replace the thermostat, this will stop the warm coolant running up to your engine go to the heater core.

Check to see that the blend door linkage is hooked up. Doubtful it is heater core, as you had heat to one side and not the other. Check coolant control valve linkage, verify it is moving the coolant valve from off to on when you switch temperature from cold to hot. Verify you have coolant flow to the heater core by feeling the heater hoses where they enter the firewall. If all checks out well, then look at hvac controls individually.

Thats your blend air door. . .I had the same thing with my 02 Grand Cherokee and I think ALOT of other people have as well. I took it to the dealer and ended up costing right around $800, because they have to pull the dash apart to get to the blend air door.

Passenger side heater blowing cold, now drivers side the same. Water levels OK no leaks. Jeep Grand Cherokee

Hi, you have a problem with your flaps that control the hot and cold air, there are flaps in the dash and they are made out of plastic and the like to break so you will have to remove the dash and renew those flaps

Heater core 2002 jeep grand cher.

I purchased a Blen Door repair kit. for my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee after having only cold air blow out of the passenger side for over a year. I found it on EBay. It requires you remove the glove box, cut open the heater box and replace the blend door. I really didn't want to cut that open, however, with the tape that comes with it, I have had no problems with it leaking any air. The dual control no longer works, the temperature is now completely controlled by the drivers side, but to save $1200, I was willing to do this. I have taken the entire thing out before to replace the heater core, didn't want to do it again.

2001 Grand Cherokee Heat on one side cold air on the other side?

The blend door on the passenger side has broken. Jeep has made a replacement section for the heater box assembly so you don't have to buy the whole thing. You will need to remove the heater/A/C box to replace the part. I have done quite a few of these repairs to fix the problem
