1994 Buick Lesabre service engine soon light. Can't read code.

Tried two different readers. Neither could communicate with the computer. Car runs fine but it's getting intermittent service engine soon light. It will be out then after 30 min. it will come on and stay on. Park and restart it takes 30 mins to come on again. Suggestions ?

    Same problem

In my case it would be TPS by the car behaviour. for years 1994/95 GM used ODB II connectors with different pins then "real" ODB II. I found info that Tech 1 scanner should be used.

I found several shops in my area, Albany, NY that had the older code readers. It worked fine, and cost me $30.00. It showed a bad O2 sensor that I replaced myself. I suggest you go to a reliable shop. Auto Zone/Advance etc.. do not have the right code readers. Joe

The service engine soon light comes on and stays on. What should I check for?

Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r5932051-check_engine_light_check. These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.

Car runs fine just quits

Does this have a "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light on? If so, get the codes pulled and post them back here along with the engine info. If no codes are present then it may well be a bad crankshaft sensor. I have seen many of these give intermittent problems (usually heat related) and do exactly what you have described without setting a code.

Code reader does not work

with a test light test the ALDL plug for battery power the pin right next to it willl be ground. ( hook the test light to power and a ground will light the light) the check engine light should come on and if you crossthe upper two pins in the aldl the check engine light should flash out the codes. The code reader might not be working and may need to hook it to a different car and see if it reads a different car.

Service engine soon light came on the car runs fine at cruise but at idle it mises Ran a code reader but it said it could not identify.I believe it could be a fuel problem

Fuel filter could be plugged, or fuel injector is leaking. You can check fuel pump relay with an ohmmeter to see if it's good.

94 buick lesabre starts ,runs ,then when shut off will not start

If the service engine light is on, it could be a faulty sensor or anything electronical with the car. It may even be something non noticeable. The only way to check exact problem is to run error codes.

I have a 2000 buick lesabre. The fix engine soon

It NEVER was the camshaft sensor! Unless, you've removed the engine lately, which I doubt.
RUN to Advance Auto Parts and buy a can of "SeaFoam" and add to your gas tank per instructions...drive at least 100 miles and the problem should go away...IF it doesn't you'll have to replace the O2 sensors in the exhaust system...Any good mechanic should be able to do this for much less $$ than the dealership DO NOT go to the dealer for repairs!

Ask about...a problem with my buick lesabre 1994

Yes, the oil should not be up too high on the indicator. To see what the service engine soon is telling you go to a Checker Auto, O'Rielly Auto Parts, or any other auto parts store that offers free automotive scans and they will tell you why your light is on. If the person whom is performing the scan is nice you can ask them to clear your codes. Fix that oil problem ASAP!

Service engine soon light

You need to have the vehicle scanned or pull the code out with a code reader, and address/fix the code.If you do not repair the problem, you can clear the code, but the service engine light will come right back on.To clear the code, you can disconnect the negative terminal on the battery for at least 20 minutes, then reconnect the battery, but the car is going to be hard to get to idle, because sometimes the computer has to relearn how to idle the engine without stalling.Good luck.
