Question about 2006 Mitsubishi Colt
Think it could be a fuse, but don't know where to locate it. How will I know what fuse it is?

Here what I do:
1. Check the battery terminal ,clean and tighten enough.
2.Cover the electronic box with plastic sheet because above it the condensed water dripped onto it from AC line.
3.Check the electronic board on EPS motor, cleaned and resealed with silicone sealant.
4. Spray all terminal cable sockets with contact cleaner.
5. Do the same to the sensor within the steering colloum .

I have a Mitsubishi Colt+ 2006 Model, automatic. Bought the car with 56000Km on the clock. Driving from Wellington to Christchurch one day after buying the car, I noticed that the EPS light came on when I stopped for a break. I walked to a mechanic and when he arrived at the car everything was OK once again. Recently I noticed the EPS light comes on after driving the car and stopping. It comes on when I restart the car. I did a bit of research and found out that the electric motor for the EPS is connected to the steering rack under the car. I tapped the motor with a wooden hammer and everything started working again. I think in my case it may be brushes that need replacing in the motor, or the contacts in the harness connecting to the motor need to be cleaned. After tapping the electric motor I drove until the engine was hot, turned the car on and off a few times and the EPS light did not remain on. Personally I think that the ideal solution would be to refurbish the EPS motor and that is not a nice job - one will struggle to remove the motor from under the car. Hoping for good luck I am first going to clean the contacts and then see what happens. I doubt if the EPS control units will fail easily - there are no moving parts there. So before replacing the EPS control unit, try tapping the electric motor. It is easily found, it is located where the steering shaft connects to the steering gear.

If you are having trouble starting the engine when this light comes on, replace the camshaft sensor. Screws into front of engine block. Costs about £35
