I have a 1999 A6. My drivers side turn signal inside the headlight housing is not working. The bulb is fine and I replaced to make sure, but when I turn the signal on it pulses very rapidly and the actual light does not work. I pulled out the bulb sockett and there is a small amount of corosion or ''''black'' (from short?) on one of the three conections were it goes into the housing. I cleaned it off but it did not fix the problem and the fuse in the fuse box is fine. Any ideas?
I have had this problem. The hot bulb melts part of the housing the bulb contact are in and this interfears with the 12+ contact to the bulb. The melted plastic must be scraped away to get this to function properly. Remember to pull your fuse before doing this. You may also have to remove the headlight to do this. The front bumper must be removed to remove the headlight.
Check to see if u have voltage pulse 12v at the socket with a test light . ir not you shoud repair wiring between flashr unit to signal socket. good luck
