I got into my suv and started it up. I noticed that my clock was flashing 12:00 Oclock. My high beam will work, but my low beam will not. Can you help?
I would start by checking the headlight relay and headlight fuse. You also may wanna check to make sure the bulbs aren't blown out. If those parts check out to be fine and in working order, you may need to replace the turn signal assembly in the steering column. This part controls the hi/low beams. This may sound crazy but, when GM wired their older trucks, they wired the headlights to go from the battery, to the hi/low beam switch, then to the headlight switch (to the left of the steering wheel) then out to the light bulbs. You can kind of test to see if this part is good by making a fist and (with your headlights on) gently hitting the plastic cover for your steering column that is right behind your actual steering wheel. This could cause your headlights to flicker on and off. It's not 100% guarenteed that this method will work, but it may.

I turn on my 2003 GMC Envoy and the Low Beam Headlights will not come on. My Hi Beam and Fog Lamps do work. My switch on the dash is alwas set on Automatic. I changed both bulbs with no joy. I also checked the fuses and they were good. I also discovered that my cruise control was inop too. My creuse control is part of the Turn/Dimmer Switch Assembly
Chiefs77: Can you tell me what the issue was. The same exact thing happened to my 03 Envoy this weekend.
Thanks,
Rick
I too have an '03 Envoy and I always use the automatic lights. While my corner clearance lights, fog lights, dome lights, dash lights, and high beams work as they are supposed to, my low beams are not working. My 10A fuses, headlights, and relays are fine. Tonight I went as far as to disassemble the headlight switch to look for hotspots on the printed circuit board and there were none. I reassembled everything with no change. I tried the suggested banging of the column, but did not see any changes. Any other ideas or places/ways to check?
I have an '03 GMC Envoy that the low beam headlights stopped working. I always use the switch in the auto position. I have checked both 10A fuses, the relay, and the bulbs. The dome, corner clearance, highbeams, dash lights and domelight continue to be unaffected by this problem. I have tried the suggested banging of the column, but saw no effect. I even went so far as to disassemble the light switch to see if I could find any hot spots on the printed circuitry, but found nothing. I reassembled everything with some bulb grease on the connections, but no change. Any suggested next place to look or thing to try?
I had the same problem,(high beams worked, but low beams didn't) I did all the "easy" stuff first but nothing. I ended up taking it to the dealer and it was the headlamp module! I have lights!!!
