Geo TRacker aut trans doesn't shift from 1st

I have a 1996 4X2 Geo Tracker and the transmission doesn't shift from 1st, it just stays in 1st. Reverse works fine. Fluid and filter are new.
What could be the reason?

Check and make sure you have vacuum coming to the valve on rear of transmission.If not that is the problem,Clean backfire valve on intake

Question edited for clarity.

Try changing the auto transmission fluid, or at least topping it up. The demands of plowing snow are pretty ******* transmissions. Fully changing the fluid comes with its own problems. The best way is to drain the fluid, carefully measure and replace it with the same amount plus a couple of measured tablespoons extra.

1995 GEO TRACKER BACK UP LAMPS WILL NOT COME ON Fuse good, bulbs good.
there should be a switch on the trans for reverse, find it and see if you can by pass it ( connect the 2 wires together) if the lights come on, the switch is bad OR the trans isnt pushing the switch on

You may try putting the trans in 2 or 1, if this doesn't give you any movement check trans fluid levels hot on a level surface. If levels are correct your trans is probably bad.

95 Geo Tracker - Automatic. Starts ok, but when
It needs a fluid change,and filter,in the transmission,also,add a additive called LUBEGUARD from napa auto parts,when you ask for the additive,be sure to get the one for gm,this additive keeps the valve body slick,and moving,this is the problem,your filter,and ,or,the fluid is dirty,and causing hydraulic problems,and valves to stick in the valve body in the transmission.
