Transmission fluid level
What do you need to know?If your car is a automatic transmission, then start and let warm up and put in park and check while running,if low, turn off and add, then start and check, use funnel at dipstick hole.If manual transmission, there's a plug on side of transmission, remove plug and see if you can see fluid, put finger in to feel,to add,get a turkey baster, dollar store has them, fill till it comes out.The drain plug is under transmission.

Technically there is no dipstick as there was on other vehicles.Your vehicle may have a little cap that screws into the transmission. under that cap is the little dipstick. However some vehicles do not have this cap. Causing you to take the vehicle to a shop where they can flush the fluid using a machine that they hook up to the transmission cooler lines. This machine takes out all the nasty fluid that is left behind by a regular filter or drain and fill. Usually when you change the filter or perform a drain and fill you replace about 4-5 quarts. as this machine can replace up to 16 quarts, depending on the transmission. You cannot get this much out of the transmission by draining it. there is still some left in the passage ways and torque converter. i have used the machine myself on all of my vehicles and they will guaratee that the whole transmission will be cpmpletely filled with brand new clean fluid.

sounds like bad clutches in trans...tranny shop needed...takes 4 qts for a filter change and remember to check it when the vehicle is warm and in park running.

I dont believe that car has a trans dip stick there is a bolt underneath that you remove while engine is running if you see trans fluid flowing it is full not sure how to explain exactly where it is if you have not done it I dont recomend trying
SOURCE: how do you check a 2004 alero transmission fluid
2004 Aleros with auto trans DO NOT have a dipstick under the hood. They do have a filler cap, located on the driver side, look straight down under the edge of the exhaust crossover, black cap with a gear on it. According to the Manuf. the AUTOMATIC Transmission (should not need to be checked unless there is a leak) has a plug in the side just like the manual transmission. You remove the plug in the side and fill thru the top until fluid runs out the side hole. Replace the plug and the fill cap when done.

The only way to check the level is to get under the vehicle and loosen a bolt attached to the transmission. You fill the transmission until fluit comes out the bolt hole The only way to put transmission fliud in is on the drivers side of the engine. There is a lid that screws off that you put the fluid into. It is not visible and is a pain to get to. It is tucked in under other parts of the engine. You have to use a flexible funnel. I strongly suggest that if you are going to perform this yourself, you spend the $25.00 and buy the book on the vehicle from a local parts store.
