    Checked fan belt? get car started in neutral accelerate hard same noise ?= fan belt. Can be ring gear on starter motor would make metallic ringing noise same as problem with flywheel ring gear.

    It only does it wen the car is cold then when its warm after turning it off it starts off normal

Screetch when accelerate
What size engine? If a repair shop did this work please take it back to them a.s.a.p. as if it is the v-6 engine it is a interference engine and they may not have replaced the timing belt tensioner pulley, or idler pulley or water pump. All of them parts should have been replaced! If not you are riding on borrowed time! Please check into this. But, by NO means should you add oil to a timing belt! Oil will shorten the life of your belt! Any noises indicates a problem, get it checked out to see what the problem is and quick before it becomes a MAJOR COSTLY ISSUE!

My gearbox makes a rattling/screetching sound shortly after cold start it dissapears after gear is engaged and the gears operate as normal with no sound whilst driving.
Sounds like it's needing a fluid change. Gear lube sounds like it's thinned out. Drain & refill w/ new gear lube.

Hello Janette.

The steering locking up, the belt screetch and the check engine light tells me that the drive belt is slipping.
This can be caused by a loose drive belt. The drive belt has a spring tensioner on it that will often wear out or seize causing the symptoms you describe.
Or there could be one of the devices that the drive belt turns that has a bad bearing which the belt has a hard time turning.
Have those items checked and I believe you will find your problem.

If i turn on the a.c. the car will start to make a screetching noise when i accelerate and it is very loud
Does the a/c work (get cool)? Sounds like a belt,but you have to find out why. Even an old belt shouldn't make a noise. Check out the belt tensioner

When turning my car, i hear a ticking noise. What is that?
Actually it sounds like you have that noise when you turn your car not when you turn it on at least thasts what it sounds like to me. I f that is true then it is probably your cv axle not real hard to change but can be a pain to get the original one out just shake it back and forth and up and down til it comes free sometimes the heat from driving it so long that way makes it shrink then swell again and again kind of welding itself.
