Isn't that mysterious? It took me a few weeks to figure it out. Look carefully under the break pedal. There is this device called a "break light switch". I hope that helps.

My 2000 Forester tail lights wont go off unless I pull the fuse out of the fuse box. It runs down the battery if I leave the fuse in.

That most likely is the brake lights staying on because the brake light switch under dash is out of adjustment and the brake pedal is not touching the button to shut it off. Possibly the spring is disconnected that pulls the pedal up against the brake light switch button. Check this out.

1999 dodge avenger tail ligts wont go out. They stay on all the time.

No high mount brake light switch? Sure it's the tail lights and not the brake lights? If the brake light switch is out of adjustment, it'll keep the brake lights on full time. The switch is under the dash and touched the pedal arm

How to repair brake light switch in 1992 Honda accord

The fuse to check is 20A fuse #42 (brakes & horn) under the hood. Use a test light or multimeter to measure voltage to body ground at both test tabs at the top of the fuse.OR YOU CAN REPLACE THE SWITCH WHICH IS ABOVE THE BRAKE PEDAL,AUTOZONE,20 BUCKS,OR CHECK THAT TAILLIGHTS ARE GROUNDED AND NO CORROSION.

My brake lights dont work but the tail lights come on when I turn on the headlights.

Check fuses first. Should be a fuse labeled 'Stop' or 'Brake'.

If fuses are good, climb under the dash and look at the brake switch, it's high up on the brake lever. Make sure it is operated by pressing in the brake pedal.

BRAKE LIGHTS STOP WORKING

You might want to check your fuse box for a blown fuse. Also because of the age of the car, you can check the release button where the brake pedal is located. This button opens when you engage the brake or in this case when you press on the brake the button makes contact and the brake lights turn on. This switch might be worn out.

I have a 1992 Honda accord EX , my brake lights will not go off. Ichecked the fuse it's good obviously! Do I need to check the brake light or brake pedal ? I need 2 fix this since it is my wife's car,...

There is a brake light switch that's adjustable. Try pulling back on the pedal, and if that doesn't help you will need to adjust the switch. It's located on the pedal arm usually under the dash. It's just an on/off type switch.
