Donald Devine How to open a stuck Back hatch on 2007 Suburban?
There are a few things you can try to open a stuck back hatch on a 2007 Suburban:
Check the battery in the keyless remote. If the battery is low or dead, the remote may not have enough power to release the latch.
Check the latch itself for any debris or obstruction that may be preventing it from releasing.
If the latch seems to be working properly, try manually releasing it by pulling on the emergency release handle inside the vehicle.
If none of the above steps work, it may be a problem with the power liftgate module or actuator and you should take it to a mechanic or dealership for further diagnosis and repair.
Lubricate the hinges of the hatch door with a silicone-based lubricant to ensure the door opens smoothly.
Rear hatch is locked or unlocked with a key. (if equipped) • To open the rear hatch, insert the key into the lock, turn it to the unlock position and pull up the rear hatch by pressing the handle (DOOR). You can also lock/unlock the latch (but not release it) with the central door lock system. • If unlocked, the rear hatch can be opened by pressing the handle (DOOR) and pulling the hatch up. • To close the rear hatch, lower and push down the rear hatch firmly. Make sure that the rear hatch is securely latched.
I do this almost daily, while working on or cleaning cars. Open drivers door, put key in ignition so that the chimes are dinging. Now, look at the latch on the open door, you can see a "U" shaped latch arm, using a screwdriver, pretend its the striker on the post, and push the latch arm back until it clicks twice. The dinging should stop, and the interior light will go off, just as if the door was closed. Now, if the latch on the rear hatch is similar, you should be able to "trick" it the same way.
Before you attempt to close the door(s) or the hatch, pull the handle as if you were opening it. The latch should pop back to it's "open" position. If not use the screwdriver to pull on it while pulling the handle. Do let me know if your now "IN THE DARK"!!
Is there something that could have fallen in the hinge or door jam that may be preventing the hatch from closing properly? Check near the latch? Could the latch have somehow closed on the hatch while it was still open, and now can't close?
You'd have to take a screw driver, release the latch (lift up the handle, rotate the key) and then "move" the latch to the "open" position and then try closing the hatch again.
Hope this helps!

Before doing any other troubleshooting on a 2003 Ford Focus hatch release problem, try THIS... The hatch release button is a triangle. Push the button on the very bottom point of the triangle. For some reason, mine did not work when pushed in the middle and only works when I push it at the very bottom point... slightly off in any direction and it does not work. Strange but true.
Hold the hatch hard closed into its frame whilst pulling on the release handle. The mechanism on most cars consists a grab/release on the door and a simple metal hop at the bottom of the frame. Over time the hoop can become loose and move slightly inwards each time the door is shut. The door seal rubbers push back on the door surround putting a lot of tension against the grab/release mechanism preventing it from releasing. By pressing on the door and compressing the rubber surround you will take the pressure off the release mechanism and allow it to open when you pull on the handle.
Once the door hatch is open, loosen the mounting bolts to the metal hoop and move it out about 10mm. Tighten the mounting bolts. Shut the door gently as a trial close and check for security of fit. If very slack, ease the hoop inwards a couple of millimetres. When happy, tighten the mounting bolts securely. draw around the hoop mount with indelible ink so if it moves in future you have early visual warning and can remount it easily
With key in hand, hit power door lock switch to lock. Raise release handle & lower. Hit power door lock unlock raise & lower handle. May take a couple times is stuck in limbo between lock & unlock mode.
2000 ford explorer back hatch handle loose door locked
The linkage on the back hatch came unfastened and the handle was loose. Ford uses plastic fastener clips over perfectly good threads to hold this together. The outdoor plastic handle is only conected to the car with two aluminum ribets. One was already missing on mine. But if you just want to open the door, you can rip the handle off and pull it out. hopefully you won't crack the plastic. You can see the linkage screw hanging as you look up through the left hole. Grab it with a plyers and apply a steady force down. This will open the hatch. I just rigged up a different handle and put a nut on the treads to hold it together. This can all be done without tearing appart the interier and may only take 20 minutes. I used a rope and handle from the garage opener, a medium size washer and a nut. First make a small loop, with a small hole to slide over the linkage screw, then the washer, then the nut. Slide the other end of rope through the handle, move the handle very close to the vehicle and tie the not close. Trim the rope and wala ... the hatch works. Or you can pay $300.00+ to have it fixed with the clip.
Try pressing down on the trunk /hatch and at the same time turn the key to try and open it. It might take a lot of downware pressure to finally get it to come open.
No electronic release. Handle on door only.
