Re: 2006 pt cruiser touring addtion tail lights went out
Try looking at the bulbs first, their is a fuse for each side of the lights ---do the front side lights work ??think this is just a coincidence that they are out and you have just noticed it .

If your lights are on automatic the tail running lights may not be on during the day. Try switching your lights to another setting of you have automatic lights. If your tail lights come on after doing this but do not come on when on automatic at night time then the daylight sensor may be broken.
I just had the same problem happening with my 2006 PT Touring. Took it to the dealership. The issue was the electric parts of the ignition switch. They replaced it and all is well in the world again.
Access to the brake light bulb is through the tail light lens.
First, remove the tail light lens by removing the single star shaped screw that secures the lens. You do not need a special screwdriver or bit: a regular flathead screwdriver will work fine.
