Dodge Durango Transmission Problem

I have a brand new Dodge Durango. Almost right away I noticed that when I started it up after it was sitting for a while (overnight or at the office) that it would not go into 2nd gear right away. After going about 1/10 - 2/10 of a mile it would then shift into the correct gear. I called the dealer and told him about the problem and he said that this was normal. I have a hard time believing this is considered normal operation. Has anybody else had this problem? Has anybody else brought it up to a dealer? I would like to know 1999 durango 4WD 5.2l auto transmission. One shop said trans needs rebuilt. 2nd opinion shop replaced $150 sloenoid and says it needs new computer. I replaced computer. Changed nothing. When it is cold it shifts properly. After it warms up, it starts off in 3rd and will not change. I can shift to 2nd manually and it will start in 2nd and then I can shift into 3rd manually. Code 0753. Can not figure out what it is...

Code 0753 means Transmission 3-4 shift solenoid or transmission relay circuit problem. The PCM (engine computer) is seeing an incorrect input electrically for the gear or speed it should be seeing. You will need to find a qualified transmission shop to diagnose the problem. Possible causes for the trouble code start with worn/dirty fluid, electrical repairs & transmission overhaul.

It was designed to do that. The dealer was right. It does that to rev the engine long enough to heat the catalytic converter to 800 degrees upon the first start of the day. NORMAL.

Sometimes when I go to start my 99 dodge durango it would start, and I move the gear shift a little and it turns right on, over times when it wont start I have to sit there for ten minutes, try it again...

If it seemed to start doing this about the same time transmission was replaced, then I'd have installer adjust/test neutral safety switch at transmission for either being defective or just out of adjustment. If your going to try adjusting it yourself, get back to me for proper procedure. Not knowing how long since transmission was changed, I'm guessing the installer would adjust free of charge, at least they should .
Please include engine size and transmission ( 2 wheel drive or 4x4) info when replying.

Hey i have a 98 dodge durango and im about to change my oil im in utah right now and its starting to get cold so i was wonderin what oil i should buy and what oil filter i need

I think chrysler recommends 5w30 year round for this vehicle. You owners manual will give you better insight. If you do not have one you can get them in PDF form on the chrysler website.

As far as the filter, if your asking for a part number every manufacturer has a different number. If your asking for what brands are good I prefer either WIX or NAPA brands. I still stay away from FRAM.

2000 durango 4.7 v8 tranny slip or something. Plzz help!!!

First thing you want to do, is get all that additive stuff out of there & get new filter & proper fluid in there. Mopar ATF 4. then disconnect battery for minute or 2 & start fresh as far as storing trouble codes goes. Chrysler transmissions don't react well to improper fluids or additives. If it starts to act up again, or check engine light comes on, have it scanned for codes at Autozone, or Pep boys & see what codes if any, come up. Don't prolong any transmission problem, as it will only cost you more in the end, if you don't take care of it right away.

2001 Dodge Durango will start from a jump.

replace the battery, on a dodge when battery is weak the idle air control solenoid tries to search for the right position. and will keep stalling sometimes wont stay running.
