Check this web site for auto repair estimates. Your fuel pump is inside the fuel tank. In my area, the job would run $400-600 at a dealer, $200 or so less at an independent garage, for the pump in the rear tank. If you have a tank on the left side, it runs about $100 more. The site will also have listings for independent garages in your area.

That has alot to do with the price of the pump, i know there expensive. The thing to do is call an auto parts store and ask what the price is for a pump, once you know that, then you can call around to shops in your area and get there price or labor rates, and that will give you an idea what it will cost. I know its alot of calling but its the best way, so you can guard aginst being riped off. It should not take a good michanic more than 2 to 3 hours to chg. one.

I have a 1999 Tahoe and the fuel pump went out. I realized this when trying to start the engine and it would not turn over. When I advanced the ignition to ACC, there was no "buzzing noise" indicating that the fuel pump was active. Also, if you were to remove the fuel cap and have a friend listen as you turn the key to the ACC once more, they should here the fuel pump activate. If no sound is present, it's a good chance that the fuel pump is faulty. <br />There are additional ways to check the pump, but I am unfamiliar with them. The dealer had the OEM part for approximately $336. You might as well add another $300-$400 on top of that for the labor. I bought the exact GM part from A

I have a 1999 chevy tahoe 350, and it has started not being able to start after it has been drive 187 miles, it will not start, change ecm fuse and it would not start after 7 hours of waiting. The next day changed the fuse and it started. Drove 260 miles and it was fine.
Then let it run for a couple of hours and it will not start, but after about 45 minutes it will start up. What is the problem?

Its a 1999 chevy tahoe. Changed fuel pump twice.

Could be the pressure regulator on the fuel rail. Pull the vacuum line off the regulator and check it for fuel contamination. There should not be gas in the line. If there is fuel in that line the regulator is bad and needs replaced.

1999 chevy tahoe 5.7 wont start in the am without starting fluid but as long as you start it every 1/2 hr or so it starts fine. runs good once started any suggestions?

check fuel pressure. If its marginal then replace the pump. These trucks are touchy on fuel pressure. Just a couple psi low and they do exactly this. In the morning cold is when you need max fuel. Be sure to replace the harness also as these tend to lead to repeated pump failures when faulty, which is pretty common

1999 Chevy Tahoe won't Start. Motor will not turn over.

I'm assuming that by turning over, you mean that the engine fails to turn with the starter . Check your battery for 12v and make sure all connections are clean and secure. If battery has less than 12v charge it and check the charging system after re-starting. Lights and radio do not pull the same amperage as the starter and may not tell you much about battery condition. If you have full battery voltage, check the starter for 12v at the battery connection and the small (trigger wire) for 12v with the key turned to start position. If you have both, likely starter has failed.

Fuel guage does not work 1999 Chevy Tahoe

the 100% for sure cause of this problem is the sending unit for the fuel guage, it is located in the gas tank. U may have to replace the fuel pump module to get the sending unit, as a rule they are one piece, if u have over 100,000 miles that is a good idea anyway.
