Google year & make of car for fuse panel fuse diagram. Do the fuse trick you did. If you notice any corrosion or caked gunk on fuse legs...replace fuse....If problem persists it's probably the VSS Vehicle Speed Sensor which gives the vehicle speed to the speedometer.

1998 Cadillac Catera dash lights not working

Increasing the fuse amperage, not a good idea. Will eventually burn up your wiring. There must be a short somewhere. May have to pull dash cluster out and look for any burnt areas. If it is blowing a fuse that is supposed to handle 3 times the juice it should be visible. Having to look is the problem.

Always check your fuses first to see if they are blown.

My speedometer stopped working and i dont know how to fix it.

It is probably a fuse that has blown. Check your fuses and replace the dashboard cluster fuse that has blown.

Weird dash light problem. the backlights to illuminate the dash intermittently go off and the radio light goes dim when they go off, the dimmer seems to function fine when the lights work, almost seems...

did u have a after market radio installed if so that could be the prob if not GMs had a lot of issues with their icp's (instrument panel cluster)

Dash board light and speedometer out after jumping..

you still need to go ahead and check the fuses inside and outside again because that would seem to be the problem.

Interior stereo light

Take a Flashlight and hold it Behind the Fuses to make them Easier to See. This way you can check them all and Replace the Bad Ones. If it is not a Fuse, The Backlighting on the Stereo is Probably out and there is no way to fix this once they stop Working aside of Buying a New Head Unit or Aftermarket Stereo. Fuse box

There are two locations for fuses. One is located under the hood and the other is located under the dash on the passenger side. Both have abbreviations letting you know what each fuse is. So depending on your problem will determine where you need to replace/troubleshoot. Some accessories do have fuses located in both locations so its up to you to make sure that each is working properly.

Hello Gary, I have this problem still. I think my Jeep likes to keep us on the edge. I do know that I was told it was something in the console that was costly and the center console/dash had to be torn apart. Well that wasn't problem. I do know that this rectangular box behind the overflow canister attached to firewall, has solved alot of unexplained issues for me. My center console reads all different issues, but usually none are true. Now my console no longer reads when driver door is open when moving, at all. It says low coolant, frequently, but my heater core is bad so that is the problem there, I think. What do u mean by speedo works? Your speedometer? Well I would replace that box if you can find in junk yard for $100 and it fixes problems good deal then. Also check your fuse box inside and any underhood that address this issue. Good Luck and Happy Jeepin'
