I have an 87 2wd 22r carbuerated that recently had a replaced carb, egr vavle and timing chain along with genuine toyota oil filter and new oil. It is the 4 cyclinder model and an automatic. i drive on average 4 days a week mostly in town. I usually get roughly 13 mpg.. should this be that low even for the 4 cyclinder carb model or is there still problems causing the bad mileage??
Well to me that is not very good mileage . have you had the vehicle long ? also did it get better mileage when it was newer ? how about plugs wires etc what has been changed and tuned up ? I would think it would get better than that alot of bigger pickups get that good or better.hows your driving habits ? Jerry

driving habits arent horrible, non speeder. Ive had the car for one year. I replaced the plugs when i first got it. Should probably replace the plug wires, fresh recent oil change, the air filter isnt too dirty, im thinking its in the transmission because i kinda takes awhile to actually get up to speed on the highway. Any rather cheap ideas to improve mpgs?
