Did you try to boost battery? Sounds like low charge. Check battery terminals for tight and clean as well as groung connection at body and power connection at starter for clean. If battery OK test for power on starter wires. Large wire will have contant battery power small wire will have battery power when key is in crank position. If power ok on both it will probably need a starter. Hope this helps...Good Luck.

2004 Dodge Stratus SE 2.4L clicks but won’t start. Worked fine up until two days ago when temps dropped to -40° with the windchill. Tried jumping it but no luck. No voltmeter but headlights, dash lights,...

Cars don't have windchill because they don't have skin. Turn off all accessories. Then turn on the dome light. Then try to start. If the dome light dims or goes out, you've got a dead battery. If it stays lit, then probably a bad starter

Dome lights will not turn off

A manual control has the light on. On some cars, the control that dims and brightens the dash lights also can control the dome light.

Passenger window won't go up

When you press the window switch button for the passenger door window turn on the dome light at the same time, carefully watch if the dome light dims slightly, this means the switch is ok and the passenger window electric lift motor is defective. You can also try stricking the bottom of the door while holding the switch down, this may cause the window motor brushes to unstick and the window will work for awhile again.

My 2004 f150 wont start. i drove it to the store and everything worked fine. when i came out of the store, the truck won't start. when i turn the key nothing happens. i can hear a clicking noise coming...

I would check your battery. I would also look for loose grounds. The clicking you hear is your fuel pump turning on. I would check your battery voltage and, have the battery load tested.

When I insert key to start the car it will not turn at all. What is this part called?

The component is a starter. When you insert your key into the ignition and turn it, you switch on the power to the coil and vehicle computers. By turning the key to the start position it will supply power to the starter and solenoid which cranks the engine until you release the key allowing to return to the ignition on position. If the battery is weak the starter solenoid may engage producing a clicking sound, but it will not crank the engine. Another test is to turn on the dome light and try to start the vehicle, if you see the dome light dim when you are trying to start the car the battery is weak or the starter has a short. Starters are temperamental at times and can be intermittent working sometimes and malfunction other times. Your ignition switch, fuse, or relay could also produce symptoms of your vehicle not cranking.

I have a good battery but when i turn the key it makes a faint clicking noise and does nothing else, i think it may be the starter but it hasnt shown any signs of going bad and i cant find it to check for...

starters don't always give any signs of going bad if you have haed lights and they are bright and don't go dim when you try to start it then you probably have a bad starter. to find the starter hit the key and listen to where the sound is comming from or you can follow the negitive battery cable down in most cases.
