I have a 2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4.0 Had a P0431 Cat code. After numerous checks by Auto Shops and a dealer, had the Cat replaced (Big $$$) They cleared the code, but the 02 sensor heater Monitor will not show done. Smog is over due and retest date almost past. Suggestions?

How high is the Hydrocarbon (HC)?
Got
new air filter?
Clean carbon off the EGR passage tube and back side of EGR valve.
This will lower the Nox
Clean/ change PCV.
Ran a tank of gas with Lucas fuel system cleaner.
Do a heavier grade oil change right before the test.
Example: if you use 10W30 then use 10W40.
Keep the engine HOT right before the you pull into the smog machine.

i would renew trhe pair of them to be honest ,and if that didnt clear the emmisions then a new cat as well
SOURCE: The check engine light came
My first thought would be the converter considering the codes....which will cause the sensors/heaters and other components to fail or read as being bad... I would call a dealer and make sure there are no recalls on the emissions systems and anything to do with the vehicle..
Also it would be worth your while to scan it with a TECH 2 scanner......You may have one I dont know......But I worked for Buick/Pontiac/GMC for 5 years and TECH 2 was a life saver...
It will tell you everything !! If it is running fine though I would just change the oxygen sensor,
clear the codes, test drive it then check it again.....But if you have no problem with it and hooked it to an emissions analyzer and it showed ok I wouldnt worry....
SOURCE: This is my problem... I needed
Error code P1702 TRS Circuit Intermittent Malfunction. This code indicates a malfunction in the engine speed signal......as this signal is essential to the transmission (to determine shift points)...........it would set the check engine light........and the vehicle will no longer behave normally.
You need first to check the related wiring and connectors
Transmission range circuit intermittent.... Well, intermittent usually means bad connection or problems in the wiring.
