91 honda civic dx. Starts, runs for a few seconds then stalls

91 honda civic dx 1.5L quit running. Starts, runs for a few seconds just fine then stumble check engine light comes on then stalls. Started as an intermittent problem. Changed fuel filter, distributor cap and rotor. still won't run. has spark.

    Update:
    I have ruled out the fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor cap, ignition control module and catalytic converter. I can keep it running by revving the engine but it runs really rough.

Try pounding on the gas tank with a rubber mallet or similar tool. (careful not to dent the tank) Try starting it. If it runs, replace the fuel pump (it's nfg). I've diagnosed numerous fuel pumps this way. Remember the pump needs to be replaced, if you drive it, you don't know when it'll fail for good. Hope this helps. Please post the results.

Fuel pump could be issue. Check for spark from plugs and see if you can here you fuel pump prime when you put the ignititon from off to run but not start. Should hum for a few seconds and quit.

Could be many, many things, but just off hand I would have your fuel pump checked. Almost any garage should be able to tell if your fuel pressure is where it should be. The problem, of course, is that a failing fuel pump will run all right, and then it won't, and then it will. Eventually it will fail altogether and then your car won't start of run at all.

bro, check ur main relay. its under the dash. replace it, check also ur distributor(replace it). and also your ECU
