I just bought a jimmy...Its cold here in maine,I went to start it and nothing...i turned the key volt gauge went just under 9 so i thought battery was dead...i bought a new one...after install still didnt start until 5 mins after...dont think its the starter because i turn the key and it wouldnt make a sound..all power inside... i used a hair dryer to get heat into the engine compartment the second day this happened and it started after 10 mins...any clues would help thanks
There are a few possible things. easiest to hardest, check your spark plugs for wear and gap. if its not the plugs it could be water in fuel system freezing. in colder enviorments it is always best to get highest octane fuel available because it contains less water. try adding an octane booster or fuel stabalizer when fueling up. also fuel filter may be at the end of its lifespan, it would take more cranking to suck the fuel through it if it is clogged.

I can tell you almost for certain your fuel level sending unit is bad, I have been able to fix them though. It requires removing the gas tank and then the fuel pump. You can if your inclined, bend the brushes on the small circuit board over more so they will make better contact on to it. Other wise its a new fuel pump assembly, check all plugs and wiring by unpluging and repluging them to insure no bad connect. It is possible it could be the guage itself, but in thirty years of fixing cars never had a bad guage

the sending unit inside the tank has a open circuit that will not complete the signal to the dash gage. The tank will have to be dropped to replace this. The fuel pump is also a part of the sending unit. The part is not very cheap neither

Try unhooking one of the battery cables and leave it off for at least 20 minutes. When you hook it back up the
computers should re-boot. That has solved problems for me with heater, interior lites, power windows, AC, day
time running lites, power mirrors, fast idle, rough or slow shifting, CD player, and wipers on GM autos and S-10
PU and Dodge trucks. None of the switches are connected to the device they control anymore. The switch tells
the computer to open the window and the computer sends a signal to the window motor. When the computer gets
confused strange things will happen or not happen. Things like one headlight stays off etc. I actually had to do
it twice on my Bonneville because the first time the AC blower would only work in low and medium. After the
second re-boot, everything was fine. Of course you may have to re-set your radio stations.

You need a better battery. When you hook the amp meter and read 0.3 the ECM needs to sleep
