Having problem pulling cv axle

01 izusu rodeo is there a easy way to get out cv axle

  • j_seavy May 11, 2010

what exactly are you having trouble getting out. should be pretty
simple, pull the hub off, and remove the axle. try a prybar to help pop
the axle out of the housing

The front axle assy. is basically the same as the older ones. but....u can remove the hub....and spindle assy.....cut the big clamp on the inner boot.....im assuming your replacing boot kits.....pull boot back and slip small screw driver in there....there is a large this round low tension c lip in there.....then u can pull outer joint and axle and most of inner joint......replace the boots......fill inner boot with grease and reassemble.....time consuming but not real bad to do.

How to remove both front cv axles from front diff, i have every thng off and this aint my first rodeo, so whats up with getting the inner cv joint out of the diff.

If you have everything loose so the CV axle will pull out of the diff, try this: Using two flat head screwdrivers, put them beteween the inner edge of the joint and the diff. GENTLY pry with both screwdrivers 180 degrees apart ( like at 3 and 9 o'clock). there is a clip in a groove that has to retract al the way in to release the halfshaft. It can be very frustratiing as I have been there done that. try rotating the axle about a quarter turn and then use the two screwdrivers again. some times you just have to find the "sweet spot".

How to put on right front cv axle and both lower ball joints and idler arm.

Bring it to your mechanic this is not easy you need to take the wheel off
unbolt the axle if you can get the axle out without taking off the ball joints than do so but usually you will need a big set of tools and special puller for the idler arm. Make sure you disconnect the abs sensor or wire going to your brakes take center bolt out of center of rotor take ball joint nuts off.You need a ball joint seperater.Only use on junk ball joints.
Pull rotor assembly and caliper braket and rotor off in one peice be carefull not to break the brake lines to the caliper. If you are going to attempt this it can lead to serious bodily injury it should be done by a mechanic. After this is done unbolt cv axle from axle transfer case/transmition.The ball joints need a press and may need to be heated to get out of control arm.Bring it to a mechanic or met a nice guy that will do it cheep

I have a 1999 isuzu 4wd rodeo 6 cylinder and was wondering if Need to install a new boot kit or if I need to replace the entire front left cv axle shaft. I had a tear in my rubber boot and noted some...

Do not try to get the cv axle out ot the axle housing. It is a major operation. Remove boot and disconnect the inner cv joint and save about five hours of time. The choice is yours ,boot or reman cv axle. You will need to take the reman. axle apart to install it though and some new clamps. Not a simple operation.

Cv joint removal

Get the replacement cv axle and remove inner boot and clip and bearings. Do the same on the old axle. Replace bearing clip, cv shaft and reassemble. Do not try to remove the part from inside the front axle unless you want to spend about six hours of time and money.
