This is a supplement to an earlier problem solved by FixYa. I have a 2000 Daewoo Leganza SE 2.2L Automatic DOHC with about 140,000 Mi. on it. Originally, I had what turned out to be a Blown Head Gasket.
I have since fixed the Head Gasket, but have come across some new issues.
Before I fixed the Head Gasket, the engine would crank and turn over, but would not "follow through" and failed to continue to run. I used the Steele Seal (registered) brand product to fix the blown head gasket. After using the product, the engine will now run on its own, but I have encountered some new symptoms.
I have a Knocking/ Grinding sound on the (drivers perspective) right side of the engine near the Serpintine belt assembly. I also have a minor oil leak that goes away as the engine cools (and actually doesn't happen till the engine is off as far as I know). Also, I am getting temperature spikes as the engine runs; the Knocking sound goes away at higher RPMs, but in the same turn, the temperature begins to spike as the RPMs climb. In addition, the idle speed is a bit low and threatens to shut off, and the start up is also a bit sluggish. Normally the idle speed is around 1000 RPMs, but now is down at around 750 even 500 RPMs.
I have checked all my fluids and all the levels are within tolerable ranges.
If anyone can help out, I would really appreciate it.

I DON'T IT'S THE THERMOSTAT, BECAUSE I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, COME TO FIND OUT IT WAS MY BYPASS HOSE BEHIND THE ENGINE THAT WAS LICKING THE COOLANT. CHECK COOLANT RESEVOIR.
SOURCE: my 2000 daewoo leganza has a oil leak by the
is the oil filter loose or just need replacing,as the rubber seal is leaking shouldnt be too hard to fix twist oilfilter to see if its tight,it only needs to be as tight as you can turn it no more, but definately not loose
SOURCE: possible oil leak from head gasket or crack in
if oil is leaking from the the top to bottom, check the gasket below the cover that has the daewoo name and sign on on top of the engine block. it could be cracked. replace with new one without any gasket sealant just replace the original and done

The temp gauge and no heat are two seperate issues, unrelated. The temp gauge fluctuations are a result of the sending unit, mine does the same thing, shows going to 3/4 mark then descending and up and down in synch with the radiator fan activation. Car never overheats and this temp gauge peculiarity seems to be more pronounced when A/C is on and outside temp is over 90F. (triggering the radiator fan frequently to compensate for heat) I read in a post that a resistor placed on the sending unit wires will solve the temp gauge problem but I have not yet tried this solution. As to the heater problem, no suggestions from me.
