My door is falling off.

I have a 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport, 2-dr, 4WD, 6 cylinder. The driver's side door is the problem at the moment. The mechanism that the three screws are connected to the door, is torn away from the door. The metal is actually pulling away from the screws. I need to know the part number and even what it's called would be greatly appreciated. I also need to replace the hinges on both sides of the doors if you could help me with that as well, I would be ever so appreciated. May God bless you, and thank you so very much in advance. At the present, I have to hold my driver's side door shut in order to drive my car. Thanks for the help. This web site is wonderful, especially in such economic times. Thank you so very much.

SOURCE: Replacing a drivers side mirror

There is a panel on the inside of the door where the mirror is.
That has to come off.
In some cases the door panel has to come off also.
Under the mirror panel there are nuts that hold the mirror on. Remove the nuts unplug the harness and install the new one.

SOURCE: 94 jeep cherokee door troubles

from the late 80's to the 90's jeep cherokees have a known problem with there front door hinges. the first time i seen this on a jeep i thought it was a fluke but now owning a 93 cherokee i am goin through the same problem... most of the time its not the door pins (i am not saying this is not what is wrong with yours, but for the most part it is not the pins). on the inside of the sheet metal, where the door hinges are welded onto, tend to rust/wear out and cause up and down play in the top door hinge. the only way to fix it is to take the door off and reweld a new brace or support underneath the sheet metal, and the weld the door back into place... my jeep is goin threw this process right now... but if you dont fix the door soon it will acually rip the top door hinge out of place, allowing the door to almost touch the ground when opened.

The door panel has plastic clips that hold it in place also. Put a thin blade screwdriver between the panel and door. Pry the panel away from the door. The panel will make a loud snapping noise, that is the clip coming out of the retaining hole. Sometimes the clips break.

SOURCE: CHanging out the front hub assembly on a 1992 Jeep Cherokee 4wd

Below is a link to the front rotor and all components on a 4WD Jeep Cherokee.

http://www.chiltonlibrary.com/content/images/8674/images/86749g36.pdf

4-Wheel Drive

  1. Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  3. Remove the front wheels.
  4. Remove the calipers, but don't disconnect the brake lines. Suspend the calipers out of the way.
  5. Remove the rotor.
  6. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten wheel lug nuts to 75 ft. lbs. (101 Nm).
Best of luck!

Need to change my thermostat on my 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4WD

I do not know a link to a diagram, but I can certainly tell you how to find the thermostat! Looking at the front of the engine, there is a large water hose at the top of the motor that goes to the left, and attaches to the radiator. Not the radiator end, but the other end attaches to the thermostat cover. It has 2 bolts to take out and the little thing between that, and the motor about 2" around that kind of looks like a spinning top, is the thermostat. It is easy to change. Make sure you get ALL the old gasket off and that both bolts go through the new one, and you should be in business!
