\'93 Hyundai Lantra, automatic transmission has trouble changing up from 1st to 2nd, it tends to rev on a bit, clunks once or twice before changing to 2nd, other gears seem to be ok. Oil levels are ok and have recently replaced the transmission oil (yes the correct oil was used)
Go to www.hmaservice.com and register( Vehicle by VIN). Afterward, you have access to shop manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, etc. about your vehicle.
Depending on the mileage of the car! Lantra can be a 'high maitenence' car. has it overheated due to the radiator leaking? They blow the head gasket fairly easily! aslo front struts seize. If engine hasnt had regular servicing they sludge up and wear out engine components, engine becomes very tappety and may eventually fail. It all depends if it has been cared for. hopes this helps. Ben
I found the best way is to take the idle pulley off first then with a little effort you can slide it over the cam pulley. Then reinstall the belt tensioner/ idler pulley and adjust. Do not over tension the belt .
After some extensive research, it looks as though they have two totally different body styles as well as a few others. The differences are as follows:
Lantra: 1.5L
Elantra: 1.6L or 1.8L engine sizes
Lantra: 2,336 lbs
Elantra: 2,500lbs Weight
Lantra: 11.89 gal
Elantra: 13.7 gal fuel capacity
those are only three differences that i have put up among the many that i have found. Lantra's also seem to be one of those out of states type cars that you find in Australia mostly. The body is also totally different.
