Sounds like it could be a clogged injector.

SOURCE: Car starts then immediately idles down and shuts off

i have had the same problem at times. my car would start and then shut off. but i found that i needed oil and check my oil and it was a quater low put in some oil and everything went fine i notices that everytime the oil is low the same thing happens also depending on the position of the car being park meaning that if you are in a down hill position or up hill position i will do the same. so you have to accelarate for 1 minute to have the oil go up. i hope this works

My 1990 g20 van will not start , new injectors, fuel regulator, gets fuel has spark, turns over fine , what should i check ?

Is it sparking when and where it should? Checking timing. # 1 on compression stroke, Ignition rotor should be pointing at tab under distributor cap for wire that goes to # 1 cylinder. Line up timing marks on pulley as labeled or even at TDC for quick reference. With # 1 cylinder at TDC on compression stroke, rotor tab should be pointed at plug tab under cap, that goes to # 1.

My 98 mazda lantis idles up and down once the vehicle gets hot i cleaned the trottle body changed spark plugs changed plug wires change distributor cap the rotor seems to be fine what else could this...

It is a fuel problem. The engine is 'hunting' and needs to be set up in a diagnostics machine, especially if it is fuel injected. If it is normally aspirated you might get away with blowing compressed air through all the accessible channels and ports, including the volume control screws. Screw them all the way in, counting the number of half turns so that they can be reset to the same setting.

I have a 1979 350 small block #2 cylinder is not firing and backfires through the carburetor when accelerating but seem to idle fine. We have done compression test 150lbs per cylinder and removed the valve...

your on the right track, change the dist.cap and rotor, if that doesnt solve the problem then you may have a bent valve or bad lifter or worn lob on the cam!!!

First is there a charge for this service advise?

It sounds like an ignition problem. I would probably replace the plugs and plug wires first (I suppose they need replacment anyway). If that does not help, check your coil packs (the black boxes that the plug wires go into on the back of the engine - I think the 1990 had direct ignition system [DIS]), if not, replace the distributor cap and rotor button. Also, check the ignition timing.

1992 Cadillac DeVille idling problem

Hi,you can run a fuel presure test to see if the fuel pump is working properly, you can also run a timing chain text ,this is a little complicated but you may be able to do it , take the distribuitor cap off, with a ratchet turn the crankshaft back and faward,if the rotor takes to long to move the chain is worn out, this can cause loss of power, I hope this will help.........
