I had the battery changed at a local shop and they did not reset the radio. I do not have a code and the dealer said the code is on the top of the radio and I'd have to pull the radio out of the dash to get the code? Sounds like the dealer wants $$ to give me the code. I called Jaguar and they didn't have it either and said that i'd have to take it to the dealer to get the code off the top of the radio. No other problems with the car, it just needed a new battery, the original was acutally still in it 8 years later!
THis sounds like a scam to me. How can they mfgr. something and not be able to give you the code to fix it without dismanelling the entire dash board to get to it.

You are right , every car maker has the codes that come with the car of their main systems.
The problem is that none of them are willing to support for free!!
The code could be handled in 3 ways :
1- Get the code by chassis number from the dealer for a price , which we can help you with that.
2- Get an electrical expert to open the radio for you and remove the security chip for the code and make the radio run using a code that he would enter for you . ( Needs to take out the radio and dismantle , and cost a little of time and money)
3- Try to find one of the specialized radio shops that can extract the code using an after market software and get you the original code or activate a new code for you.
Hope this helps
Hi
Check through your car service book, front or back pages, sometimes the code has been written there prevously, by a technician, service personel, or previous owner.
Good Luck !
