Verify the coolant level is not dropping over time and also look into changing the coolant temperature sending unit....cheap part and replace it yourself. If the threads on the new unit are not coated, use some Teflon tape on the threads and then insert and tighten to specs..you should not see any issues if done properly... cheers

I would recommend taking it to a qualified technician and have them see if any codes were set on the car's computer.
You don't want the car dying whilst you're in a hurry to be somewhere.

SOURCE: wet under driver's side floor mat

Is there a sweet smell inside the car?Heater core leak I beleive would be on passenger side floor.Antifreeze will be sweet to the nose. Are you getting any white smoke out the tailpipe? would likely be head gasket leak.Put a piece of cardboard under the car near the radiator and under the motor to see where its leaking from .One thing Ive learned over the years is that its going somewhere. On the ground? Or out the tailpipe.
As for the floor board leak the 98 s were prone to have the defrost area in front of windshield collect water from being plugged up .Mine was passenger floorboard.Daughter resealed small oval vent (that defrosts /heats hood?) LOL .Its on pass. side under hood on cowl .I think this will take care of my problem but you may need to investigate under the dash/defrost area and drill and then install a drain line to bottom of defroster.Exit drain line to O/Side of car...lol .Also was it raining ? was car outside in rain .if so it could be this issue.Sorry so long ,hope you can make heads or tails of this.

SOURCE: 97 saturn sl2 temp light flashing and low coolant

If the temp gauge is reading normal, the lights are flashing, and the coolant level is full, the level sensor in the coolant bottle is the problem. I'm a service consultant for a Saturn dealer and I've run across this many times.

SOURCE: belt tensioner assmebly went bad

Take the Right hand front wheel off, remove the plastic splash panel. Obviously, first remove tne belt. the tensioner should be slightly up in the wheel opening. Remove the pully, center bolt, remove the bolts attaching the tensioner asm. Local autoparts store should have replacement for around $30.00. Replace follow instructions backwards. While at auto store reference saturn manual for torque to tighten bolts when replacing. Do not over torque into aluminum block.

SOURCE: have 95 saturn sl with code 26 and 27 quad driver

well the quad driver may not be at fualt and most likely is not.

there is a fualt line that the computer uses to monitor for fualts but the thing is one line monitors four different things and the code is to get you in the general area but not to the exact fualt. so from here you need to test for failed components. that code and the quad driver monitors the a/c , evap solniod , egr solenoid and coolant fan relay. the fan relay and egr are the most common i see all the time. and with you having an isssue with that coolant light i want to say check the fan circuit.

let me know if you have more question thank you and good luck

Testimonial: "Thanks I'll check those circuits, but could not find a test for the egr module, but did find for linear egr valve."

Location of coolant sensor 2000 ford tarus station wagon 3.0 liter v-6

Not sure I follow you.
The engine temp sensor sends a signal to the engine computer and the computer decides when to activate the fan relays. So if you have power to the fans you would also have power to the high or low speed relay the temp sensor is probably working. There is a third relay for the ground circuit.

I have a 1998 saturn SL2 with a LL1.9LL4 engine, want to switch out with a 1998 saturn SW2SW wagon with a 16 valve twin cam will this work? SL2 engine blown, SW2SW ****** is going!

If you are replacing a DOHC 1998 engine with another DOHC 1998 engine yes it will work. Saturn only made two engines from 91-99 and they all had the same block, difference some were SOHC and others were DOHC. The number "1" after SL or SC or SW means SOHC while the number "2" after SC or SL or SW means a DOHC.

Note if one is an auto and the other manual you are going to have to swap the flywheel/ring gear stuff over.

Water temp red light on seems like gettting water

Probably have a coolant leak somewhere. That light means the coolant reservoir is empty/low. Have your cooling system pressure tested to find the leak.

My 1998 saturn sl2 overheated temp gauge was only on half mark and its only 9 degrees outside heater never warmed up

Check your coolant level. Most causes of no heat are low coolant levels or blocked heater cores. If it overheated and has no heat I'll beat its a low coolant level. Check for leaks. Just because the gauge didn't go all the way up doesn't mean much. Those cars trap air in the cooling systems when the level gets low. That will cause those problems. Check for leaks and if a repair is made I also recommend a termistat.

Two lights come on my dashboard.

Hi!!

Probably your coolant level is low. With motor off and cool, check coolant level. if low, fill it to the MAX COLD mark. DO NOT OVERFILL.

Don't forget to rate this post. Good Luck!!!

No, the transmission can be removed without doing that. You will need to support the engine.

Engine Coolant Light blinks constantly.

you put transmission fluid in your radiator? You should have antifreeze in your radiator. You could have a bad thermostat that's causing the car to over heat. Does your temp gauge read a high temperature?
