The Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) is designed to prevent shifting out of PARK when the ignition switch is in the RUN, BULB TEST, or START position, without pressing the brake pedal. The BTSI solenoid and the park lock solenoid are energized when the ignition switch is in the RUN, BULB TEST, or START position. When the park lock solenoid and the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) are energized, the mechanical lock connected to this park lock solenoid is pulled away from the shifter. The stop lamp switch receives ignition voltage in the RUN, BULB TEST, or START position from the BTSI Fuse and is normally closed, providing voltage through circuit 1135 to the BTSI solenoid, energizing the solenoid and mechanically locking the transmission shift lever whenever it is in PARK. When the brake pedal is pressed, the stop lamp switch opens, removing voltage from circuit 1135 to the BTSI solenoid. The BTSI solenoid is de-energized and the mechanical lock connected to the BTSI solenoid pulls back from the shifter allowing shifting.

some are set up with safety with brake lites out. ck if brake lites work if not turn key on do not start and shift to neautral and start and have brake lites repaired

Can't get out Park, starts ok, tried the manuel thing pressing
the pink release button, nothing. Had the car towed but
they had to hoist it on a truck. Was there a recall for this?

The shifter assembly in the console has a switch-solenoid (shift interlock) that has to send a release signal to the key release solenoid in the steering column. center console shifter? if so, likely could be a misadj shift cable, you can pull loose top cover per instruction maneul tells you how to get out of park till you can get it adj, or repaired

Pull hard on the steering wheel to the left and the steering wheel lock mechanism should release. I mean pull hard to left because shift interlock is froze if you cannot get it this way you will need a pro to help! Good Luck Mate.
