You don't have to replace the mass air flow sensor, CRC makes a mass air flow sensor cleaner i would try that first but if it doesn't work then you'll need to replace it

SOURCE: 2002 pontiac grand am, idle fluctuates at cold start in parkp0102

Sounds like a vacuum leak. Do you hear a sucking sound? Check your vacuum hoses, around the throttle body and intake for the sound. p0102 can come on when there is unmetered air getting to the engine and it could be fluctuating because the idle air control valve is trying to compensate.

SOURCE: how do i fix a

You need to change the mass air flow sensor, buy it online its cheaper, or buy it from your local auto parts store, usually it costs 100-200, the sensor will be located on/near the throttle body which is linked to the intake. then you need a t-20 torque bit to remove the 2 screws, open the engine cover, and its about 3 inches in length, its black in color, open the 2 screws with the bit and un-clip the one wire, then pull it off the intake. if you want to see why its bad/or how it could be bad, look within the sensor, there should be 2-3 little pieces of metal strands (sensor components) if they seem damaged/corroded/missing then thats your explanation of the engine light, simply put the new sensor in, hook up the clip, then screw it in, before you even do this whole procedure, remove the negative battery terminal, that way your computer resets and will acknowledge the new sensor, when your done with the new sensor install, put the negative battery terminal back in, SECURELY. make sure all connections are solid and tight. then thats how you professionally do a maf sensor swap. how do i know, changed my own sensor on my 1999 pontiac grand prix :) once your done with the procedure write a testimonial for good feedback ;)

My car cranks but won't start a P0102 code came up for the mass air flow sensor I replaced it and now it still just cranks with the code coming up still can this cause it not start?

Replace the CKP (Crankshaft Position) Sensor. Your car cannot tell that you are trying to start it, because it does not see RPM's from CKP sensor. Common problem.

98 gran prix p0102 obd code

P0102 - Mass Air Flow (MAF) Circuit Low Input
Basically this means that there is a problem with the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor or circuit. A more technical description would be that the MAF circuit had lower than expected voltage (air flow).
A code P0102 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • The MAF may be disconnected, or a wiring connection may be bad
  • The MAF may be dirty or otherwise contaminated (Note: if you use a reusable oiled air filter, be careful not to apply too much oil or that can contaminate the MAF).
  • The MAF sensor may be faulty
  • The vehicle computer may be faulty (very rare)

Want to know engine light p0102 code means

P0102 is the generic DTC (Data Trouble Code) for (Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input), and it would most likely be a fault with the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor.

The MAF sensor could be dirty or faulty, and there might even be restricted air flow to the MAF sensor (like a plugged up air filter). Also be sure that there are no air or vacuum leaks in the air induction system especially between the MAF sensor and the throttle body and that the hose clamps on the air induction system are all tight.

What does a P0102 code mean?

P0102 - Mass Airflow Circuit Low Input

Check to make sure the mass air flow sensor is plugged in and has a good connection. Do you happen to use a re-usable air filter such as a K&N? Often times when people recharge the re-usable filters they use too much oil which causes the the MAF sensor element to get dirty. Sometimes removing the sensor and cleaning the element very carefully with electronics cleaner can fix the problem.

By the way, the mass air sensor is mounted between the intake tube and air filter usually.
