Did you have the battery and alternator tested on the truck ?
The large wire on the back of the alternator goes to the battery, usually by way of the starter post. The fuseable link wires are attached to that large starter post. They look like regular wire with a section designed to burn like a fuse if overloaded.

1997 chevy 1500 fusable links diagram

Fusable links usuall don't have a diagram ,,,, the protect major electrial circuirs or coponants ie Alternator, Glow plugs, Battery, Aug power systems etc and are a serious fuse .60A - 100A normally , located as close to the battery "+" terminal and with heavy single wiring or in the under the hood fusebox (large oversized fuses). When the fusable links blow it's a major short in the wiring/circuitry.....

I still think you need to clean your battery cables better. You are not getting a good ground.
That means the part where the battery termanals connect to the cable. Scrap the battery termanals positive and negative post and make them shiney. Let me know if it does the trick. The Raz

Same problem. 1992 nissan kingcab with v-6. starter and battery good-had them tested. Wires clean. new ignition switch-needed it. turned over once, once only still clicks when key is turned. Help

By wires clean do you mean battery termanal wires?
This sounds way to much like the battery cable ends need to be cleaned. Not only the inside of the termanal ends but the posts as well as take the ends off the cables and clean the copper wires where they connect. Then follow the positive cable to the solinoid and check connections coming in and going out to the starter. Check where it connects to the starter and tighten if needed. If none of these does the trick will it start with a jump? If not will it start with a push if it is a standard shift? Let me know how it turns out, Good Luck, The Raz

Wont start just clicks..... new starter insatlled and battery....

It still soundslike the connection on the battery termanals are not contacting. Re-check them. If the termanals are corroded on the inside of the lead cable ends then take apocket knife and scrape them out. You mght need to do this to the battery termanal studs on thebattery as well. Make them shine with the clean silver color lead has. If after this it still just clicks then you may need to take off the battey cable ends and clean thecopper on the cable as well. after that is completed and the cables are back on thebattery and it STILL won't star thenit istime to move to the next step. See if it will start with a jump from another vehicle. Though you have anew battery you may have a short some where that isdraining the voltage out of the battery. Check your dome lights and make surethey were not turned on and left on.
If ajump start will not get it going then the next step is to locate thestarter and while someone is trying to start it tap on the starter with a hammer or something you can get a good solid tap with. If it starts you havelocated the problem. It may work for a while even but you should plan on getting a the starter replaced. It it still does the same thing as beforethen if you have a stand shift model you can try push starting it. Automatics do not work well doing the push starting. It takes an automatic somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 miles an hour to get an automatic going and that is just to dangerous. So if you have an automatic then skip this part.

The thing is if it does start by pushing thestandardtransmission type you still havenot corrected the problem.
It still may be the starter and or solenoid on the starter. You may need to replace it any way if all the other test have not corrected the problem.
For the most part it sounds like theconnections on thebattery termanals and Ihope this fixes it. Be sure to follow the battery cables backto where they are connected to the chassis and see if theyhave loosened up. Tighten them if this is the case. Good Luck,
Raz

When starting lights come on but will not start or turn over. No noise at all from engine. Not starter.

It can be a host of items that can cause this to happen. Check qall the large fuses located under the hood and see if any are blown. If all are good do this next. First check the connects of ALL battery cable connections. Make sure they are all clean and tight. Check the battery voltage too next. Lights will work on very low voltage. Battery voltage shold be at least 12 volts to get the starter to move. If that is fine the voltage that is check the batteries connection to the starters solenoid. It has a fusable link which worksw like a standard fuse in your fuse block. The wire will melt down causing the open to the starter. The outer insulation will not melt away so you would check the solenoid connection with a OHM meter for continuity. Probe the wire at least 8 inches away from the solenoid to do this. If the display shows OL that is your open circuit. If it shows numbers the wire of the fusable link is good. The only other item that will needed to be checked is the electrical ignition switch which is located on the transmission with the shift cable attached to it.
