Your engine has IMRC (intake manifold runner controls) that are supposed to stay closed under 3000 rpms. Over time they get carboned up and can hang open causing poor performance. Try to manually close the valve, if it immediately opens again the diaphragm might be bad. It would require replacing that IMRC.

Hi

it sounds like the EGR valve is either dirty or has failed, do you lose any power at all, if not then thats a good sign, remove the EGR and clean with carb clneaer only, leave to dry naturally and dont try to dry it or touch it yourself, they often do get dirty as the job they do is similar to that of a turbo with exhaust gasses.

Hope this helps
Regards

Dan
lastly clean the air mass sensor too, both are easy to do and easy to remove.

What is the code PO133 means on 2001 chevi tracker 2.5 6 cylinders?

P0133 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Slow Response Bank 1 Sensor 1 You Could need a new O2 sensor !
A lean-to-rich transition is indicated when the HO2S voltage changes from less than 300 mV to more than 600 mV. A rich-to-lean transition is indicated when the HO2S voltage changes from more than 600 mV to less than 300 mV. A HO2S that responds too slowly is likely to be faulty and should be replaced
This is something that needs to be checked with a scan tool or a volt meter set on millivolts . A scan tool is preferable !

An Engine Light came on the dashboard of my 2003 Ford Windstar. The code came up saying p0171 (Fuel System too lean.(Cylinder bank 1) What does this mean?

P0171=System Too Lean Bank 1,
not cylinder 1,it means the oxygen sensor on the drivers side exhaust was stuck on lean and set a code.
doesn't mean you need to change the oxygen sensor yet, first clear the code and see if it corrected its self.

1996 century

P0301 code means that the the car's computer has detected that one of the engine's cylinders is not firing properly. In this case it's cylinder #1

P0171 code basically this means that an oxygen sensor in bank 1 detected a lean condition (too much oxygen in the exhaust). On V6/V8/V10 engines, Bank 1 is the side of the engine that has cylinder #1. - this could be an open vacuum line.

on your P0301 and your P0171, the first thing I would check is your mass airflow sensor, it's probably fouled, also check the air filter, and vacuum lines for cracks.

P1406 code - EGR Valve Pintle Position Circuit - this basically states that the EGR valve is clogged.
