Drive Axle Vibration

2003 Chevrolet Malibu LS
I had a bad Hub on the drivers side so I replaced the Hubs on both sides as well as the CV Half Shafts. After the repair I now have a severe vibration at speeds above 25mph. I have disassembled and re-assembled with the old CV Half Shafts as well as removing, inspecting and reinstalling the new Hubs and vibration remains!!! What did I screw up???

Worn or bad cv joints, inboard joint is sticking, both of these symtoms cause vibration. recheck halfshafts, could be that they were damaged when the hub went bad.

Replaced both front wheel brg/hub assy's on a 09 Nissan Murano but I still have a rotational growl sound coming from the front end. vibration felt thru front floors on drvr&psngr sides? Any ideas?

possible problem cv joints or drive shafts
check with a drive line specialist shop as some manufacturers fit a balance to the shafts to stop vibration
have them check the cv joints while you are there

I own a 2003 proton jumbuck ute and want to replace drive shafts, the outer wheel end not a problem but need to know what I have to do to release drive shafts from gearbox end. thank you for your time

most cv axles or held in the gear box /diff by a round sectioned circlip at the end of the splines in the diff
once you have the axle free of the hub and bearings use a heavy hammer on the back side of the cv joint or a heavy slide hammer attached to the end of the axle
you have to compress that circlip so that it allows the axles to slide out

ES Lancer - vibration, dull grinding noise when turning right, even at low speeds. Intensifies as I approach 30+mph. Replaced CV Axle, Tie Rod End, Bearing, and Hub. No dice.

Turning right and having a loader noise, means the left/drivers side is bad. Turn right, more pressure on the left side. and vice versa.

Why do I rarely hear a ticking sound at front drivers side wheel?

are you sure the noise is from the same side. it could be the CV on the other side, or the half shaft you changed is bad. it could also be a dry tire bead of hub cap if it has caps.

How do I decide if it's the drive shaft or the CV joint?

It is easier to change the whole half shaft than it is to change just the CV joint.

Can you remove the driver side cv axle from a 2005 Chevy asteo van AWD permenanlry

The CV axle stub (end with the axle nut on it) supports the wheel bearing, removing the axle then driving on it would cause the bearing to wear prematurely. I would not recommend this. The front differential is also sealed by the cv assembly, removing it would cause the diff fluid to leak out . CV shafts for this van run $50-80. I would replace if it is bad, instead.

Changing front axle assembly or wheel hub or both? Either way, need torque specs for all bolts.

you've got a bad axle shaft in the front and possibly a bad bearing in the hub. 4/wheel drive makes the front axle actually work. Theys no real pressure on these shafts when in 2/wheel drive.

2003 Impala. Grinding noise when I back up and turn the wheels. Notice axle grease on the frame under the boot on both sides but more so on passenger side.

Replace CV joints, or half shafts. Half shafts are much easier, and the cost isn't that bad after you exchange the old ones.

Honda Accord 2003 - Engine and steering vibration

My 2003 honda accord was doing this too. The problem is the inner CV axle bearings. The fix is to replace both CV axles. When you choose your CV axle choose a new one not a reman, there are known problems with used CV axles. It's not a hard job. It took me 1hr to do both sides on a lift.
