It might be one wire it might be cutting out so you should cheek the wires same of the cars do that

Yes you can just change the fuel pump, there are genuine and aftermarket options available, You need to remove the original pump from the cradle and this will allow you to confirm the size of the replacement pump.

Holden ,well its a vauxhall or opel to me so its the same and as such the fuel pump is not repairable ,their is a gauze filter on the bottom and check the wires from the connection block into the pump and thats it its a complete unit if it goes wrong complete with the float assembly .you owe me a tinny for this if i ever get enough dosh to visit my son in adelade and two grandaughters .

Warm starting problem

Check your alternator. It does more than just charge the battery. If it is not working properly the fuel pump and injectors will stop thinking the car has been in an accident.

the alternator runs on bushes pushed by springs a new regulator that has new bushes and springs should fix it as long as the armature isn't damaged i would ask the auto elec how much for a reconditioned alternator or if you don't trust auto elec try another auto elec, if they doth say same thing, they are right, your loyalty to your mechanic has cost you a small fortune already .auto electricians have more advanced tools for testing , hope this helps

The car just stops and may or maynot start again.

Where do you live?
That sounds like a fuel pump.
Why can't anyone diagnose that?
I assume they checked fuel pressure,filter and road tested it.
How many people or hours were put into the diagnostic process.
Why don't you pull the fuel tank yourself,and change the pump. You would save money and it would be done correctly?
There should be a fuel pump relay in the system.
Are you sure this isn't more about the money than the fix?
Very seldom does an Alternator and Battery go at once.
You need to pay attention to what your being pitched. Find a good shop

Left my car lights on.. tried to push start it and it wouldn't start then tried to jump start it and it would work for a bit then cut out again after about 20 sec's. my rev counter was not working while...

Dead battery can't be pull started,there's no electricity for spark to ignite the fuel.Put a full charge on the battery and take it to your local auto parts store for a load test.They will tell you if it's bad.Battery could not have enough of a charge to stay running or you could be looking at an alternator problem.Charge the battery and start the car,disconnect the - (negative)post of the battery.Car dies,your alternator is bad.Hope this helps?

My pontiac transport cuts out i replaced the fuel pump and the battery goes dead after awhile new battery now while driving it dies like a fuel problem new fuel filter too please help

Check the alternator for voltage output,worn belt and belt tensioner.

A health alternator should be produce 13.6-14.8V.

Any less it will put a drain on the battery.
(example: fuel pump,fans and lights)


Base on what you changed already,I recommend you to


1)inspect the tensioner wear indicator (two arrows,lines or dots) if they coming close the it's time to change the tensioner.

2)check the for worn belt. Look for cracks on the belt.

3)charge up the battery and monitor the voltage.

4)get the alternator check.
Most alternator can go up to 100,000 miles.
Some auto part store has a portable battery + alternator test.

Where is the location of the fuel pump relay

Did it run fine prior to replacing the alt and battery? Check over where you have been working,sometimes things get bumped/disconnected. Fuel pump shut-off switch is in one of the kick panels near the inside of the doors. Reach up over the top of the kick panel. The pump relay are near the battery. What happens on this model too,is the heater leaks on the computer,which is under the heater core.The coolant/water shorts it out.

98 cherokee starts for 2 seconds and shuts off.

Sounds like a serious short and or blown fuse. Check battery voltage. Move on to underhood fuse block. Check all fuses. Move on to cabin fuse block. Check all fuses. Check fuel cut-off switch. Reset switch. If you still have the problem and the battery is good than you have a short in your starter, alternator , or fuel pump. I won't go into lighting cause I figure you can tell a bad bulb from a good one. If your battery voltage is 12v + with the engine off your ok. If you can start the engine, check the voltage at the battery again, it should now be around 14v. If not , go to the positive terminal on your alternator and check the voltage there. If you read 14+ at the alternator and not at the battery , then the wiring in that circuit needs to be changed. A quick alternator test is to disconnect the negative terminal of your battery while the engine is running. If the car dies then your alt is bad. If you read lower than 12v on your battery. disconnect it, add water unless its maintenance free., charge it on a charger or preferably get a new one. Go and feel your starter for excessive heat. A short will also heat up your negative battery terminal

Sl2 stalls while driving or when starting.

Wow... if the whole car is doing that i would guess it to be electrical issues.like a bad ground...basically a major cable that connects to your frame or directly to the negative side of the battery. You see, electricity leaves its source makes a device operate then the electricity goes back to the source. kinda like a big circle... when you start your car...the battery gets you going...then...the Alternator takes over...recharges the battery while making your car operate on an electrical standpoint. if you break that circle...lights out...be it the wires losing contact. battery failure( usually they STAY dead) or it could be an alternator with an intermittent problem. Based on a money stand point...your battery is fine...i'd replace the alternator...not trusting it after all that. (100- 300 bucks) if it STILL does it..then have a mechanic replace your wiring harness associated with the ignition, starter,alternator and battery( should be just one bundle of wires to fit that portion) .200 to 400 bucks to get that replaced. i hope this helps you out with finding out what the problem is...and i'm sorry to say...getting a fuel filter and fuel pump replacement would not cause a radio to lose power...the battery is like a back up system. don't go back to that mechanic ever again..as he is ripping you off. im an electrician so i know about electricity and i also tinker with cars quite a bit for fun.
