2005 Dodge Dakota AC and Heater both dead but the blower works!

My AC and Heater BOTH suddenly stopped working however the blower still blows ambient air at whatever velocity I choose. On my control panel, the only button/switch that works is the fan velocity. I can make it blow fast or slow but it's only ambient air and it only comes through the face vents. The temperature button/switch does nothing. The selector for which vent (feet, face, defroster) the air comes from does nothing. The snowflake button for the AC does nothing!! I've checked the fuses and relays and couldn't detect a problem so WHAT NOW?! Anyone??

Could be a diverter door stuck, cable/solenoid broken.

I would suggest changing the control head. You should be able to source a used unit from a local salvage yard.

SOURCE: ac will not blow thru ac vents, only thru defrost vents.

if vent doors are operated by vacuum check for loose or broken vacuum hoses in the engine compartment , or check the fuse box for any ac/heat fuses if it is a electricaly controoled system

SOURCE: heating / air conditioning control stuck to front defrost vents

There is a vacuum leak under the hood. Find the vacuum line on the passenger side where it comes through the firewall and follow it to the engine. You system needs vacuum to operate and without it the default setting is on defrost for safety reasons.

Where is the heater resistor on a 2005 dodge dakota? Behind glove box?

should be just above the blower motor. You will need to remove the glove box door to gain access.

Heater blower fan not operating

First, check the fuse. If that is good, chances are the blower motor is in need of replacement.

The blower motor in my 1989 Dodge Dakota suddenly stopped working. Will not blow anything on any speed or on hot or cold!

Have you checked for a blown fuse first. There are two fuse control panels - one under the driver's dash board and one in the engine compartment. The one in the engine compartment should have the blower fuse. If the fuse is good, check the blower relay (this is also in the engine compartment). The cover to the fuse box has a diagram of the fuse locations and descriptions. "BLWR" is usually used for blower.

Blower stopped working.

Heater blower motor resister is bad, or blower motor its self is bad. Run 12 volts from an outside sourse to blower motor, if it runs its resister if not its blower motor.
