I just purchased a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 Mega cab. When I shift from drive accross Neutral to Reverse, the RPMs go way up then down like I hit the gas pedal or something. It also does it when I go from Reverse accross Neutral to Drive. I have to pause in Neutral a second or 2 to let it come back down then finish changing gears. Is this a normal thing?

On some of the older (1996-2000) Ram products, the transmission kick-down linkage crosses the throttle cable assembly. if someone has worked on that, it may be rubbing each other when you shift, causing the "bump" in RPM's.

check the reostat which is a resistor that controls the fan speed and also check the wiring to both the reostat and the heater motor

check the sensors and connections may have loosened or knocked one loose if they look ok than have truck scanned most auto stores such as auto zone/advanced auto scan for free the trouble code will narrow the problem

Technical Description:
EVAP Control System Canister Vent Solenoid Circuit Malfunction
The EVAP system monitors the canister vent (CV) solenoid circuit for an electrical failure.
The test fails when the signal moves outside the minimum or maximum allowable calibrated parameters for a specified canister vent duty cycle by PCM command.
Symptoms: You will likely not notice any drivability problems.
Causes: A code P1451 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
*VPWR circuit open
*Damaged canister vent solenoid
*Canister vent solenoid circuit open or shorted to ground, power, etc.
*Damaged Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
*Possible SolutionsVerify canister vent solenoid - To verify normal functioning, monitor the EVAP canister vent solenoid signal PID EVAPCV and the signal voltage
(PCM control side).With the valve open, EVAPCV indicates 0% duty cycle and a voltage approximately equal to battery voltage.
When the valve is commanded fully closed, EVAPCV indicates 100% duty cycle, and a minimum voltage drop of 4 volts is normal.
Output test mode may be used to switch output on/off to verify function.
*Replace canister vent solenoid

You have to make somebody to check the struts, or shocks, and also the axles, this situation is very dangerous because if the problem are the terminals or the axles, they can be broke while driving and you will lost control of the steering wheel... completely. I mean, no steering wheel working, on a car running...

1998 Dodge 3500Transmission goes to neutral

Try checking/adjusting the linkage. My 99 3500 TD has a similar problem when trying to shift into Drive. I have to shift to drive then slam down on the shift lever to get it to engage. Once in a while it will pop into neutral if I hit a large bump or something. I've just been too lazy to crawl under the truck to do anything about it.
