It ran out of oil and got stuck in third gear

I had the same problem in my 95 150, I had to kick the shifter to get it into gear and home, the problem was that the shifting forks wore out and slipped out of place, replaced the forks, fixed the problem

Have you removed the nut holding the rotor on? Remove the big nut holding the bearing in, and the rotor will come off. You will still need to knock out the rear bearing and seal.
