The most common cause of that is either a failing fuel pump or crank position sensor. The CPS will generally leave a readable trouble code. To check the pump, immediately after it stalls, turn the key off, then to "run" and have someone listen at the tank to see if it's pumping (hum). If not, bang on the tank bottom. If the pump comes back on, it's binding internally and needs replacement. (I know...sounds crude but it works!)

check idle air control, tps & map sensor. As usual with electronics, test test test before buying anything/
SOURCE: where is the pcm on 1997 jeep grand cherokee 6 cyl?
I don't think the PCM is your problem, is the check engine light on? It could be you idle air control motor this is located on the throttle body, but because this happens while driving I am thinking you will need to replace your crank shaft position sensor it is located on the transmissinon bell housing it is very hard to replace without the correct tools. If the check engine light is on take it to a local auto parts store and ask if they can check the check engine codes for you they usally will do this for free.

its located on the throttle body, and yes its pretty easy to replace

Remove the harness plug and check each pin for corrosion and connection to the wire behind it. The problem is a wire or wire connection, but I can't tell you which one but likely its a ground or power lead as sensors would usually not shut it off but would give you a component failure code and check engine light.

P0505 means the whole Idle Control system, not only the IAM. Check all related sensors (i.e. crankshaft sensor). Check with a voltmeter direct at the connector of the IAM if you get any signal. Remove the IAM from the TB, connect him, let someone switch your ignition key to ON. The IAM need to drive in/out for a short time to find the right position. Hold the IAM near a hard part, that they cant drive out completely! If IAM works fine, check the fuel pressure, check and clean your TB ( if not done yet). If that doesn't work, come back again please
