Are you sure its smoke not steam? Most common problem is the heater core leaking. Look for moisture on the floor boards first. If it is wet then you have a heater core problem

No moisture on the fllor board and all fluid levels are normal.

Might be some debris burning on the blower motor resistor. If you pull the resistor, which should be below the dash next to the blower itself, check for burns on it or even a leaf that may have blown through the ducting. It should be a four prong connector if memory serves me right. You could also have a problem with the blower itself

White smoke comes from hood of 89 ford pick up

White smoke is actually steam, get the cooling system pressure tested. There is an outside chance that the steam is gasoline vapor so get this checked right away

Ford f-150 that has smoke coming inside the vents when you drive it.what would cause this? 4.5 v-8

You trucks heater core is leaking inside the dash heating vents, the air blower motor blows through the heater core and then you smell the leaking coolant in the form of a sickly sweet vapor. You will need to replace the header core, this is a fairly big job and in most cases best left to a professional.

Bad smell coming from heater/ smoke coming out vents

I had the same problem in my 98 Dodge Dakota! Replaced the heater core, problem solved. No more funky coolant smell and erie fog coming through my vents. I bought the heater core at rockauto.com online. Have purchased many items now from them. All factory parts so far at half the price of even AutoZone, even with the shipping. Also, you usually have to wait only a couple of days depending on the part and they have EVERYTHING.
