wiper fuse. The wiper motor was, for a very short time, drawing the majority of the power from your system causing the radio to lose its required voltage. The fuse blew to the wipers, ending the power drain, therefore your radio got back the voltage it needed to work. Its kinda like everything goes dead when you start your car, only to come back when you let off the key.
Had the same thing with my 2004 Wrangler. The Airbag light stayed on also. Took to dealer - Cost $400 for them to replace the ignition. Fixed every thing.
u have the gremlins...they are electronic demons that devour logical mechanisms. Proceed to the garage and ask for a quarentine. Sounds like a short, but probably is not...perhaps a relay...maybe the computer. Try testing all the electronics in the cab...and then check fuses and relays...then if all that is fine...take to a mechanic and ask for a computer inspection...I read a thread on a forum that said that the computers in the 99 wrangler might have had a bad batch program in it that cause the lights to malfunction on the dash but what is a blinker...and a radio, a electronic.
6disc changer goes out first then bad signals are sent thru circuit board. components that help control radio n AC burn out eventually, causing the problem you have.
in my car (2003 G35 sedan) i heard a popping sound from radio while driving. my 6disc changer had not been working for a while now and i didnt care or know about this problem until it went further damaging. i had an ipod. well after pop, radio n AC buttons n lights stop working. AC turns on full blast and cannot be turned off. radio only controlled from steering wheel.
you have to ship your radio or drive your G35 to a factory car stereo repair shop. they are hard to come by so thats why you usually have to ship the piece out.
Run a new wire to the motor from the switch this will do 2 things for you. It will tell you if your switch is still good, and if it works you just fixed your problem.
I had a similar problem with my 2000 Jeep TJ and I found the problem in the wiring harness under the hood.several wires were corroded and almost burnt off.If you remove the black tape which keeps the harness bundled together and if you see evidence of "green" type powder or "gook" it's most likely where the wires have faulted.
