In your solution to this problem, you reference "remove instrument panel(04320).refer to section 01-12"  How do I get the information in section 01-12, to remove instrument panel.  I understand the replacement of the blend door actuator.  Now I need to understand how to remove the instrument panel.  Thanks for your help.

Ford has issued a TSB or technical service bulletin to change the two motors. The motors appear to go defective due to contamination of the associated circuit board which can cause the motors to not respond correctly to the controls . My Lincoln TC was produced in Jan of 2008 and so failure was delayed until just afterr the Warranty ran out. I admired Ford and have owned lots of Fords from the 65 fastback Mustang down to recent Lincolns but I am deeply disappointed and probably will stay away from the Oval sign. It cost me $525 dollars to get the mmotors replaced and to restore proper funtion. As a retired engineer I am didisappointed that Ford has decided to get all their customers out of the Warranty period on a known defect rather than own up to the problem. Ford knows it has a problem and will let you find out the hard way.

If your blend air doors blow A/C on the flopr when you fire Her up and delay blowing out the panel Vents you have a known problem which Ford will not address until you are out of Warranty. Ron Davis

The motors are electronically controlled and would work well if the grease used did not over time contaminate the control board. The dash is supposed to take 2.9 hours to pull out as part of replacing the two motors. I wish I had a better solution and Ford will not issue a recall. They refused to honor or even contributre to the repair if they are lucky enough to get you out of the Warranty period.

SOURCE: cold air on passenger side warm air on drivers side

Actuator motors either get a tear in the rubber or a hose is broken and not letting vacuum assist in its opening.
You can try moving the lever by hand and see if the air gets colder on the bad side.c976077.jpg

SOURCE: glove box latch broken

The latch is sold seperately. Call your local dealer with the last 9 of you vin number to get the right color. Most dealers sell at the same MSRP price as all the others in town. I know cause I sell these all the time at my Chrysler dealership.

SOURCE: Air Conditioner blower motor resistor was replaced

Motor is also energized by a relay. check that and also check that the motor itself is good by running a hot lead right to it. I'm sure you already checked the fuse and know the switch is good?

2002 ford explorer AC and heat blowing in dash, but very weak from the vents

On the motorcraft parts web site, you can blow up
a picture of the HVAC Blend Door Motors & locations,
as well as part numbers

You can get failed motor from Amazon

With knowing where the motors are located, try switching
the air flow modes manually, to see what positions do not work

Then you know what motors to replace

I also have professional scan tool software & can see the codes
for the motors in enhanced data.

The-- Vent Blend Doors-by name

Defrost-up top
Cabin -the vents as you say in the middle & on the sides
Floor
Recirculate-under the glove box
Blend Door -under the dash on your print

2006 buick lucern blowing hot air on one side and cold on the other side

Do you have dual zone cooling? If so, you have a bad air blend motor. I had to replace 3 on my 07 Impala and the basic geography of the part locations are the same for your Lucerne. There is one to the left of the radio well back into the dash, one to the right and one by the passenger side kick panel, near the door hinge. They are not for the faint of heart to replace. I had to replace mine because they were clicking and sounding obscene. They run about $25 each. Determine which is faulty using this rule of thumb:
Drivers side uncontrollable: replace far left blend motor
Passenger side uncontrollable: replace one just to the left of the glove box.
If you cannot switch between outside air and recirc, replace the one to the right of the glove box.
The blend control motors look eerily similar to a quartz clock movement you'd find in a hobby store, however, that is where the similarity ends.

Hope this helps

It is a actuator motor on the inside of the dash ,mounted on the blower box,the dash will have to be removed to replace it.The actuator motor controls the temp door, and it is not moving the temp door.If this was helpful,at all, please rate, and thank you.

Replacing a blend door accuatior on a 2002 ford explorer

replacing a blend door actuator is a tedious job. You have to remove the steering column taking xtra careful for the wirings. Complete removal of the dashboard, remove the instr. cluster, radio , glove box.Remove the console box, discharge the freon ,disconnect the heater hoses, ac hoses. After removing the dash you can gain access of the ac/heater phlenum. Remove the blend door actutor.bolts and screws are sometimes in a concealed location so xtra patience is needed.

Heat

You'll need to check some things to see where the problem is. See if the hoses to and from the heater core are hot, and your cooling system is full. If the heater core definately has hot coolant going thru it, then the problem is probably in the heater control system inside the car. I believe this car has an electric motor that controls a temp/blend door in the heater box. You'll need to see if it is moving the door. I have seen the doors break and the motor just spin. If the ac controller detects the motor is travelling too far, it will shut the motor off. Bat disconnect will fix this but you'd still have to replace the broken door. Depending on wether you have dual zone temp control, it may have 2 motors and 2 doors. One is directly behind the glove box easy to get at.The other, you don't won't to know, it's behind the heater box. Single zone motor should be behind the glove box. Lower glove box down, you can remove motor easily and feel the door's shaft. If it spins free the door is broken. Broken blend doors are common. Other possiblities are electical problems with the ac control or motors.

The heater and a/c blend door actuator motor is located behind the center of the dash just below the windshield. The steering column must be detached and lowered and the dash must be removed to access the blend door motor.
