make sure the dash lights are not on the dim setting. The window switch runs its lighting from the dash light dimming switch as well. If all is ok, I would suspect a faulty window switch assembly
the dimmers on the HL stalk. (held lamp , park dash dimmer)
if the power to the map is dead so will many other things be dead.
lost the 2002 operators guide, ?
in cars 1 fuse runs many things. thus my others dead comment.
why not be clear, , the overhead dome map light. say where
hand is, because many cars have dash map lamps, so.....
my hand is on the DOME light above and its what DEAD?
i log into alldata.com so can you.
i look at this schematic, and there are 2 lamps
MAP and cargo, map is the traditional DOME. lamp now MAP.
but they both use the same fuse. so are both dead.?front and rear?
or both stuck on? what are the symptoms.?
both lamps have manual direct control (sw) PUSH THEM ?
If not in manual mode, there are controlled by the BODY computer BCM..
both run off JB1, fuse 34.
now i bet the next question is where is fuse 34, well its in the JB.
and where is JB its at your left knee, (USA only LHD only. comments )
fuse 34 runs the foot courtesy lamps... are they dead?
and visor vanity.
there are 2 fuse boxes. one in engine bay and one in cab, some cars
3.
JB =means cab
PDC fuse box is engine bay, Jeep lingo...
JB is in plain view above left ankle, look down then up and left.
bingo JB.
the box had fuse and relay ID's
the operators guide shows , all the fuses and name.
i dont have the OP guide so cant find the name for Fuse 34.
but there is no need yet if the other lamps work then FUSE 34 is good.
and is 15amps.
The dashboard lights and taillights do not turn on, what is the fuse?
Edwin (translation to ENGLISH)
The same thing happens to me in the 2003 liberty, what fuse is it? in the diagram I can't find the fuse for the interior lights on the dashboard and the rear lights are related to different fuses, help pls!!!
turn headlights on and try moveing the wires by the head lights allthe way up battery and fuse boxes also check grounds by the lights if all looks good replace head light swicth.
Check the brake light switch. It should be located under the dash by the arm of the brake pedal. When you push the pedal down with your foot it activates the switch. The switch can be tested with an ohm meter or multimeter. If defective, it will need to be replaced. Hope this helped and good luck.
The car has a short somewhere. My guess is a ground fault where by power is being consumed in the cabin. Annoying tho this is i would leave the fuse out and if the car runs ok leave well alone. In England JEEP has a real bad track record for electrical faults. If it ain't broke Don't fix it. Steve in UK
If yor liberty is a 2002 to 2004 it is very likley that the wiring harness is pinched under either the drivers or passengers seat. you need to remove the seats (its only 4 bolts) and lift up the carpet and look at the harness that runs under the seats. I have seen this many times before.By the way i am a Jeep master technicain and have been for 15 years.
