Brake light also does not come on; only happens when driving at night. In other words other brake lights do come on (center and right hand) also side marker on front does not light; right side marker and directional alternate flashing with each other. Could it be the left hand front light being burned out causes all this????
This is a well known problem on this jeep. You will have to bend the small copper tabs on the respective light socket out a bit to restore its electrical connection. Sometimes this isn´t enough and you will have to bend the copper contact on the light assy itself out a bit.
You probably have a poor earth on a rear light cluster, if you can find the earth wire ( often goes to the body close to the lamp) that will be the problem and it will need cleaning or a new terminal putting on.

Replace bulb, it has 2 filaments, one is probably burned out.

there is a ground problem, most likely in the tail unit itself, but a ground problem is hard to find and easy to fix. reground the system, the turning unit, and the problem should stop. About the hazards, I don't know...... some times in older cars, that is the way it works. because the brake and hazard element in the bulb is the same and the old cars used a break in the power, but the new cars use a break in the ground. any way, chase the ground down first, it is usually the cause.
