My speedo/odometer not working in a 02 rsx

This vehicle should not have a speedo cable. It should use a vehicle speed sensor that sends info to the speedometer.odometer. Is the check engine light on? It may have a code stored in the computer for this issue

Hello BDG, The answer is no. If the VSS fails on your 97 Chevy, you will lose both speedometer and odometer functions. If your speedo is still working and your odometer is not, you have a broke odometer. This is a common failure with a lot of the older vehicles that were fitted with the mechanical odometer registers. If the speedo works and the odometer does not, I would say its the odometer that has failed. The speed sensor in the transmission works for both components so that leaves the odometer.

Hi Mcguffeyo, I believe you have two separate problems. The speedo problem will be sorted out by replacing the speedo cable and the fuel gauge by attending to the cable connections or the sender unit inside the tank. Regards John

if the speedo is not sending a speed the trans will go into back up mode and the trans will not shift normally check the speed sensor

The odometer gear is broken in the speedo head.

have the dsme problem. need to chech each of the 3 wires for continuity between the v.s.s. and the e.c.m. if good then the speedo is bad.

If the odometer is part of the speedo head then the unit will need to be pulled out and sent out to an authorized GM repair station, there are no parts sold for it except the entire speedometer, and that is very expensive.
