"N" is for Normal
"A/T" Is for Automatic Transmission
"P" is for Power

When "P" is selected a light that says "POWER"
comes on, it is just under the speedometer.

This switch is for the automatic transmission, it changes the shift points in the transmission for loaded or towing conditions when you need more power.

2001 SUZUKI ESCUDO (GRAND VITARA). My vehicle can't slow down after drive 70 -80 km if I slow engine off and cant start up without accelerating.

Correct. When you turn off the engine you lose the engine vacuum to the brake boost assist. No brakes. Can't accelerate with engine off.

My suzuki escudo 2001 v6 auto stuck in neutral after disengaging from 4wd how do I get back into 2wd

we dont have Escudos but we do have the V6
H25 and H27 V6s
you are using part time 3 wheel drive on dry pavement
this was wrong, to do.
so
set the hand brake
then put the A/t box in neutral. (operators guide tells you how, here in USA we key on, step on brake and shift PRNDL to N.
then shift to 2H, if it balks move the car a tad by hand, push it.
brakes of, flat ground, if on slop, let car roll 1 foot.
the set brake and do above.
next time save 4wd for ice, snow or dirt.
it is nOT full time 4wd, (well unless it is, no photo dash)
full time looks like this.
http://www.fixkick.com/tranny/xfr-case/4wd%20windup/suzuki-grand-vitara-4mode-4wd-selector-switch.jpg

full time started in 2004 as and options.
so you dont that
if you had full time , you still can not use lock mode on pavement free of ice.

I have a suzuki escudo 2003. i have problem from transfer gear. very difficult for transfer gear . and some times gear 3rd be neutral. how repair this problem ?

this is a non uSA car, and this is a USA forum, so we must dig deep to find out what any Escudo has options wise.

gear 3, does that mean car is stick shift, or auto,
we need to know, what you have, exactly , in the drive line.
even the engine helps.
but this is Part time 4wd, right, 2004 was first awd on this car.
so its PT tranfer case, part time 4 wheel drive.
problem 2 is your failed to say what tires are rolling on.
pavement
ice
dirt.
this car is not to be run on pavement in 4wd unless covered with ice.
the operators guide is clear on that, read that yet?

or this.

http://www.fixkick.com/part-time-test.html

click stop driving on ice free pavement there , see the damage.

go off road now and post what it does wrong now, if any thing.
if the 5sp box fails to shift the shift tip plastics are gone.
$5 fix. ask.

I have a Suzuki 2L diesel 2004 Grand Vitara and recently the 4x4 does not disengage even though i have put the lever back down to 2. Eventually after a few hundred metres it disengages back to 2 wheel...

hello and greetings. you did not say what driveline options
were purchase when car was new. so, can not answer.
but if car is PT 4wd, I can. if not get it fixed, by any 4wd shop.

the car is full time 4wd or AWD ?
PT:
the Part time 4wd must not be driving on dry pavement.
so drive to dirt or grass or ice and then shift back to 2wd

there is a TSB from Suzuki on wind up.

exceptions?
sure , the 2004 options statement here. and the rules for PT 4wd.
http://www.fixkick.com/part-time-test.html

Suzuki Grand Vitara/Escudo -full-time 4WD using limited-slip center differential, off-road 4WD with selectable center differential lock and low range transfer case 4 mode (4h, 4h lock, 4l n), traction control and electronic stability control
Suzuki offered as an option AWD for Grand Vitara's in 2004 (XL7 too) Some Suzuki AWD you can not use lock on dry pavement, so read the operators guide carefully.

suzuki sells the operators guide if lost,
$4 day pass
$25 for full pdf.

Suzuki escudo g16a automatic transmission not changing gear

Have you had the transmission control module (called the TCM) checked for fault codes? Do this first and then have a trained ****** tech diagnose the resulting codes received if any,. if not codes then you may have a failed transmission or a defective TCM
