Hard start and rough idle.

When the truck sits for a few days it is hard to start and idles rough. Also hesitates when hitting the throttle. Once it runs for a minute it goes away, but sometimes hesitates when taking off from a stop. This goes away after it warms up and for the rest of that day. The more days it sits the worse it gets. Has only 60,000 miles. At first I thought it was the battery because at first it was hard to turn over and would start right up. Now its almost like the timing is off and getting worse, but after running a minute it gets better.

I think your right about the tune up. Searched the net and found that others had the same problem with the 2000 4.3L V6. It was the distributor cap. It's hard to know what can be the problem with these vehicles with electronics and computers. Dealers now have us by the balls. Thanks

Sounds like it's time for a tune up of the ignition system. That would be easiest. If not, have a mechanic check your cylinder compression.

SOURCE: Hesitates like it want to flood when starting, Getting worse

Is it misfiring?? like not running on a cylinder?? If so than you need a new head gasket. Coolant is getting into the cylinder, killing the spark on a cylinder for a while until the coolant burnes off resulting in better running conditon, when warm. Your had gasket is no good. Have done many head gaskets for the exact same symptom on a Nissan Sentra.

2008 mini cooper s with rough idle to the point of surging at low idle (1K rpm) runs okay above (2k rpm). Have replaced spark plugs, throttle body, and walnut blasted valves. I'm at a loss???

I would be looking for a vacuum leak. Check that none of the hoses have been split or disconnected when you were working on it before.

Hard to start, dies, missing out, hesitation, low rpm take off missing out

Fuel filter clogged, weak or faulty fuel pump. Have fuel pressure checked, if its ok, then check igniton coil or module.

At first the truck idles extremely rough when cold cranked. This went on for a couple of days, now the truck will not start at all. It hits every once in a while while repeated cranking on cold start. ...

Sometimes on cold days if the cranking amps on the battery are low, then it will be hard for the vehicle to start. Also, check the oil level. If the level is low it will create a hard start and rough idle for the vehicle.

Very hard to start and idles rough

Cold start injector could be bad, or you could have a small vacuum leak, like a cracked hose. A vacuum leak is most noticeable at idle, when engine cold.

On a 2006 Jeep Commander when the vehicle is sitting idles very roughly from 500 to a 1000 rpm. Any advice?

TRY THIS.
Here are some of the causes of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

1999 olds alero stall whe you take your foot off the gas and occasionaly wont start

hard start is AM is most commonly caused by a defective fuel pump pressure check valve, the other stall is issue is covered by the following procedure.
