Mazda 323 park brake light won't turn off

My 1997 mazda 323 astina park brake light won't turn off, even when i have taken the handbrake totally off. I've noticed that after driving a while (20-30 km's) it will turn off, but i don't know what is triggering it to either stay on or turn off after so long

Could be the switch on the brake pedal arm that controls the brace lights. It may need to be adjusted or replaced.
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: mazda astina pop up lights wont go back down

Try to check if there is something stuck to the motor of the pop-up lights mechanism. You can see it below the fenders. The fender liner should be removed.

I have a Mazda Capella (626) 1998 and had similar problem other than it was running on 4 cylinders and the hand brake light was not on but speedometer was not functioning and the ABS light was on. The rear ABS senssor was the problem.

did you check our ball joints? jack up the wheel and try to move it side to side and up and down. it should move no more than an 1/8" either way. Any more than that and your ball joints aer starting to wear.

Mazda 323 Astina 1.8. It won't start.

Question edited for clarity and add some CAPS.
Question moved to model category.

Edit to Add: Your other duplicate post (now deleted) says you have no spark. Did you disconnect the battery recently? Check for DTC codes.

The question is too vague. Does it turn over, do the lights work? Did you check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). Engine light on? Do you have fuel?

Hi all i have a 323 astina 2000 Rear brakes working fine. Ive got no handbrake i have tightened the. 10mm bolt at the leaver. Is there anywhere else i can tighten the cable ??

Is the cable working properly ? It could be seized along an area up to the rear brakes. You may have seized hardware at the rear brakes. Or could have worn out park brake pads or shoes. If you have sued the leaver constantly, you may have a stretched cable.

Left headlight won't rise without coercion.

try removing it again and see if theres a dent somewhere inside the housing that makes it rougher for the light to retract and check the motor that winds it it might be out of alignment

Mazda 323f sport 1999. How do you adjust parking brake?

Where the handbrake lever is,it will be covered by a boot of some sort.Peel this back and beside the lever will be either a rod with a nut on it,or it will have a recess for a screwdriver.with the h/brake off,do the adjustment by tightening it.When it's right, the h/brake should have to be pulled so 7 'clicks' can be heard.Hope this helps

Battery for 1997 Mazda 323 Astina 5dr hatch

It's fine to use a battery with a higher cold crank rating than original. Consider the rating in the manual to be a minimum requirement. You'll be fine as long as the physical dimensions and terminal placement are compatible with your car. The battery manufacturer's guide should tell you which battery fits your car.
