need radio code for 2001 Mitsubishi Montero sport. Serial number J44mT21H91P001563. I replaced the battery which reset the radio. My email: [email protected]
Use the first 4 station preset keys on the front of the radio. Push the first key as many times as the number you want. For instance, if the first number of the code is "4", push the fist key 4 times. Same for the remaining three keys.
I have seen this before, You should pull the radio out and get the serial number off of the back. Call your dealer and get the radio code. Disconnect and reconnect your battery and input code given by dealer. Usually this occurs when you change or let the battery rundown, it is an antitheft feature. Most of the time you would lose all functionality but in your case there may have been some kind a electrical surge that tripped part off your radio functionality. Please let me know if this works for you.
You should be able to contact the dealer and provide proof of ownership, and they may be able to give you the code. You may have to remove the radio and give them a service number located on a sticker. or they may have to reprogram it with a code of your choice.
I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Sport. I was doing some work to my battery and
my radio locked out. I put a code in that I thought it would be and
after 3 codes it would not let me add anymore codes. I took my vehicle
to the dealership(no charge) and he went in and got the serial numbers
off of the radio and looked into his computer and gave me the code. Of
course the radio was locked out. He told me I had to have the ignition
turned on for 30-45 minutes and the radio would reset for me to put the
code in. I let it sit in the garage for an hour and went back out and
it worked. I just put the code it.
An OBDII scanning tool will reveal the cause of the issue, and give you the ability to reset it. You might also disconnect the negative battery terminal, wait about a minute, then reconnect. The light might come back on after awhile if the issue had not been resolved. Also, you will need the radio code to unlock your radio if you do option #2.
