The problem isn't with the oil pump. The oil pumps job is to move oil around the engine. What the problem is, the main and rod bearings are so worn out that it can't create oil pressure anymore. That's why you have a knock in the bottom end of the engine. The tighter the clearances are at the main/rod bearings, the better the oil pressure you'll have. The cam bearings also play a roll in producing oil pressure.

WOW a 94 with 46K on it thats rare. Your computer may be bad it sends the pulse to the injector.
SOURCE: Oil Pressure Guage
Oil pressure is read by the sending unit, not created by it. If you replaced the sender and do not see a minimum of 20psi there is something wrong inside the engine. Some people will tell you that 5psi is "safe". In reality, in an otherwise perfect engine it may be but in real world application, the 20psi number is the lowest I'd ever accept in any engine.(at idle) Running pressure is influenced by temperature and oil grade, but this should not vary dramatically.
It is best to attach a mechanical oil pressure gauge to the engine and in that way, you can read the exact pressure. If the mechanical gauge reads the same or very close to what you see on the dash, then the reading is correct and if low you will need further diagnosis to determine why.

It is possible, look at the oil pressure switch, and see if it is still plugged up good. Also,it might be leaking,if so,replace it.You might replace it any way to make sure the sending unit is reading correctly,If it is not a loose plug on the oil sending unit.It should be right next to the oil filter kinda long.

have you replaced the throttle position sensor? then try running an oil cleaner thru it it sounds lik you have two problems here.
SOURCE: loud knocking low oil pressure
The bearings (inserts) from the piston to the crank shaft is wore out or has slipped (turned out of place). Most low oil pressure problems are bad bearings or stopped up oil filter screen. If it's knocking, the damage is done.
